yow! of course thats big enough. in my area i see rings like that all the time and they make mine look like a baby (1.6 carat)!

4 ct?  Can I be your girlfriend?!?  Jeez I thought one was big enough and she's getting a 4.  Yeah it's big.  Hopefully she isn't a tiny girl where her finger is going to fall off after you put it on her!

An engagement is not about the size of the ring. Unless she is really shallow, she won't turn you down if its to small.  I personally think that a 4ct. ring (if it is a solitaire) is too big. I have a 1ct. solitaire and it is huge.

It depends on the setting.  Is it a solitaire or is it set in with surrounding stones?  If it's a solitaire, it's way too big and will catch on everything.  Unless she will have a maid, then I guess it's OK.  Get some good ring guards for it to protect it. And lots of insurance!

Personally, I think a 4 ct would be way to big. One they will snag on everything and two, they attract unwanted attention from theives. One ct is sufficient enough. Not too cheap, not too big.

Wow! I hope your marriage lasts a lifetime with a diamond ring that big.  Before you buy it, think of the quality of the diamond.  It might be a piece of junk that is huge.  I opted for a 1 ct with a perfect diamond.  Think of quality versus quanitity and what's more important to your girlfriend and your wallet.  Do you have the funds to pay for this?  Will you be paying on it for 10 years and end up getting divorced over money issues? Things that make ya go hhhhmmmmmmm.

4 carat total weight or 4 carat solitaire?

You either don't realize how big a 4 carat solitaire is, how expensive it is (if it is diamond) or are joking around.

A 4 carat solitaire is huge.

Personally I think it is too big. That is just flat out gawdy in my opinion.

I think an engagement ring should be well balanced on a ladies finger. Smaller girls with very petite fingers can wear a smaller ring but still look great and ladies with larger fingers can wear a larger ring but 4 carats is way too big for anyone in my opinion.
