Im planning to go to the poker room in jackson rancheria casino, CA (for the first time) and i'm planning to play a hundred dollars. Can someone explain to me what poker selections i get to choose [such as 3-5, no limit....(in a any regular casino, not only jackson rancheria)] Your help really helps me out, i appreciate it.

1. Tell me what selections casinos offer

2. How does it work? (the process. buy in, sit down... can i leave whenever?)

3. Any additional information i should know about

  1. If you're buying in for a 100 you might want to play at a 1-2 no limit table or maybe a 2-4 limit table. At either of those $100 will give you a pretty decent stack in comparison to the other players. The last thing you want is too come to a table already weak because of your stack.

You buy your chips from the cashier (unless you decide to play blackjack. In that case, you buy at the table.)

Then tell the guys at the entrance of the poker room what game you want to play and they'll direct you to your table (or if not, you can ask).

Sit down, wait for the dealer to ask if you want to post and then play.

You can get up whenever you want. If you want to take a short break you can leave your chips at the table and get up. If you decide that you've had enough and want to take your winnings home you can just get up and take your chips to the cashier at any time and without any warning. However, know that leaving right after winning a big pot is frowned upon. You're allowed to do it, but you'll lose the respect of everyone at the table.

Enjoy it. Go win some money.

  2. All poker games will consist of one of these two formats:

There are cash games were you can come and go as you please and rebuy an unlimited number of times.

There are tournements were you play until you are knocked out and the prize pool is divided between the top finishers.

There are also different types of poker:

    No limit Holdem

    Limit Holdem

    Omaha

    Razz

    7stud

    5card draw

No limit holdem being the most common.

  3. When you get to the casino,go to the cashiers window. Give them your 100.00 and they will give you that amount in chips.

As for yor game options,if you're relatively new to the game start at a 3-6 table. This means that the small blind is 3.00 and the big blind is 6.00. You should be able to choose from several different games. No Limit Texas Hold 'Em, Pot Limit, Stud Hi/Low, regular 7 Card Stud 5 Card Draw, etc. Find yourself an open seat and just sit down and start playing. Might not be a bad idea to observe the table for a couple of rounds. Just to get a "feel" for the table. You can play as long as you have chips or sit out at any time. If you're playing a tournament however, if you leave the table you're out for good. These rules apply to any casino/home game anywhere. Most important, patience is key and never, ever underestimate the staggering power of dumbass luck. Good luck to you.
