  1. You could be lucky and never see a snake or a scorpion. However, there are huge numbers and varieties of spiders. I like them and find that I still see a new variety at least once a week.

  2. We get heap of spiders, crickets and ants. I have had a few scorpions show up i the house but thats not too bad.

Oh, we live in perth by the way, in the suburbs, so no where near the bush or anything.

The spiders we have a huntsmen (nothing to worry about but they are big) and red backs (bit more to worry about).

You should be ok, it isn't a plague of bugs or anything.

    P.S. Lavender keeps scorpions away.

  3. You will hardley see any of these in Sydney, only a few people who own homes further out from the city itself would see Spider's or Snakes, not Scorpions as they are desert dweller's.

Enjoy your stay without fear friend

  4. You will be safe from snakes and scorpions, depending on where you live.

Spiders are a different story. We have plenty of those :(

The huntsman spider here grows so big they pretty much have health bars. Gigantic and down right horrific, but they are harmless.

Countless daddy-long-leg spiders here though, which usually work quite hard to kill most other species. In Melbourne we have a lot of Red Backs and White Tails. Red Backs tend to live outside, and quite low to the ground, so you will hardly ever see one inside your house.

White Tails live mainly in closets etc, so if you're a paranoid arachnophobic like myself, you'll check your shoes before you put them on.

  5. The only snake you have to worry about is the common Brown Snake, which likes to hang out wherever the people are.

Watch out for the Sydney Funnelweb spider, menacing big black and deadly, and Redbacks if you venture out into the sticks.

  6. Of course you'll never see any spiders, snakes or scorpions in a school/University. Unless you're living in the middle of nowhere, I doubt you'd ever see any. Just like any city in the USA/UK, there's no wildlife in the cities.

I wouldn't worry about scorpions anyway, they don't bite and aren't poisonous in Australia.

  7. Insects will come and go, but as long as you are a bit wary and always have a thong nearby, you'll be fine. I've never seen a scorpion in my life and I've only ever seen one snake. And I'm from a (sort of) country town.
