  1. When you get the ball tuck it into your chest then  run with  1 hand out in front of your face and don't stop till you get to the try line.  (that always works for me :P)

  2. If you play prop, you number one priority is to hold that scrum up, open side or blind side. you need to instigate that push. If you play flanker....beat the c**p out of the opposing fly half, or number 10, once that ball is out of the scrum, tear down on him, leave the halfback to your lock to cover, as well as your own half. If you get the choice, opt for flanker, more freedom on the field, and much more ability to make that big hit. Props are the heart and soul , not to mention the foundation of the scrum, ruck and maul.

  3. Flanker is probably the easier position to play. You have less responsibilities entitled just to you. Rather, you play more all-around rugby, breaking off the scrum more quickly, thus engaging in open field play more often. You can really alter the game as a flanker. On my team, one flanker loves to join in the backline, to provide heavy support on defense and to help overload on offense. The other, the larger and slower of the two, likes to engage in mauls and rucks more.

A prop is a tougher position in the rugby field. You'll be supporting the hooker in the scrum and lifting in lineouts. As a prop, you'll need to know how to scrum properly as to not collapse the scrum, and provide the main power of your side on the scrum. Out of scrum, you should focus on winning the rucks and mauls, because as a prop, you'll be one of the biggest/strongest players on the field.

  4. I'm a prop.

impress the coaches by getting stuck in.

In a scrum, lock your feet into the ground.

A  flanker should be on their toes all the time

    GOOD LUCK!!

  5. If you play flanker, in the scrum you must nail their scrum half as soon as he touches the ball! Don't let him get that ball out! If you play prop then you'll have a pretty boring game. Unlucky :( happy hitting=]

  6. two pretty different posistions there.. my advice is for when playing flanker is stay out in the back lines as support for centers ive been playing rugby for 4 years. i started prop and now play outside center and its always useful to have sum to help you in the backs

  7. Props and flankers (also called wing forwards) are totally different positions. Your build and speed should determine which one you would be best at. Powerful but slow on your feet = prop. Powerful but fast = flanker.

Question for Andy B. How does a wing forward beat the c**p out of the half backs especially the No 9. A flanker must stay bound until the ball has left the scrum? You talk rot

  8. andy b IS right. you do have to beat the c**p out of the opposing halfbacks but also their no.8. if your a prop aswell as holding up your side of the scrum you also have to prtect the fringes of the rucks........u should listen to me, ive played six years of rugby for one of the best rugby schools in ireland and im a prop

  9. You Americans crack me up with these posts full of absolute BOLLOCKS!!

You're not going to learn how to play rugby sitting in front of a PC guys, trust me.

And you certainly shouldn't be playing in the front row if this is your first game of rugby!!! A lifetime in a wheelchair getting fed through a tube is a big possibility...............

To the Welsh dude above me, am I talking sense here or what?

  10. good luck?

  11. good luck. my first game this season is 2morrow also...the guy above me pretty much covered everything but if ur gonna make a mistake make a fast one
