  1. I think its awesome that you are going to play field hockey. But running is one of the main parts of field hockey, I think that you will be "okay," but you arn't going to be completely prepared, in the game you might find your self needing a brake when you still really want to be in playing the game, also you will have a disadvantage from your teammate at try outs because the coach will definetly test you on running. But you can get better during the summer if you work hard and run regularly. Try timing your self on a track, and keep coming back and trying to beat that time.

Another thing you can do to make sure you don't have to do that much running on the field playing the game. To do this I would play Defense, like sweeper, or half/full backs. Don't be a midfielder (the most running position) or a sweeper (I mean if you really want to I think you could do it, but it requires a lot of running to).

Hope I helped, but i think you will do good even if you don't practice your running this summer.

  2. You should be fine. I used to have trouble running too, but my body got over it. good luck :)

  3. Yeah,

    For sure(:

There are different positions on the team, and some dont run as much as others

  4. I'm sure you'll be fine.  You'll have to focus on improving your other skills, like hitting far and strong and exact, as well as stopping.

You can also take a position, where you don't have to run so much, like defense, or -duh- goalie!

And before you know it, you'll be good at running, too!

Have fun.  I used to play field hockey too.
