the problem is that I have not played for around 2 months. I would prefer to go to the driving range but the 2 other guys (who also havent played for quite a while) want to go on the course.

Their excuse is that there is a driving range on the course and they can hit 100 balls before tee off....I dont think thats enough...yet I still want to go (i always go with these guys)

so tomorrow morning when I get up or when I get to the course (somehwere around 6.30am) is there anything that I should do to warm up before practicing or anytihing at all I should be doing because I havent played for 2 months and im sure that I have lost most/all of my form.

what can i do??.....i used to score in the 120's (im only 16) and I started t get down to the low 100's after a few rounds but im worried that I will have another bad day (by my standards)

  1. Don't worry so much about the game right now. Just have fun with your friends. If you must do something, practice your short game. Do some chip and runs. Do some putting. Play a game alone by setting a target in front of the hole and see how close you can get. Move it and try again.

  2. You will probably have a good round, because you are anticipating a bad one. I always play better this time of the year as I am not over thinking everything. Anyway, begin by stretching, then proceed to the putting green. Always begin your putting by practicing long lag putts, which will really give you a feel for the speed of the greens, then move to the five/six footers. Chipping a little will help as well. The biggest thing you want to do is relax and just focus on course management and have FUN.

  3. At the age of 16 I don't think stretching is an issue. You roll out of bed ready to go. What I wouldn't do is stand on the practice tee and pound out a couple hundred balls. Your hands will be raw and sore and you will already have played 36 holes just by hitting that many balls. Go to a practice green where you're allowed to chip and practice chipping to a downhill pin position for a half hour. This will give a feel and touch for one of the most important parts of the game. Then work on your putting for a half hour. The feel and touch you established by doing the chipping will carry over to you putting. After that hit a few full wedges and short irons and finish off with a few drives. Not too many, maybe 10 to 12. Just don't over do the large bucket of balls on the practice tee.

  4. The worst thing you can do is worry. Just go out and have fun.

I would hit a few balls with each club to make sure you are at least making some goood contact.

Then spend a little time on the putting green.

  5. Make sure you get a good stretch, and pratice your putting, to get a feel for the green speed.  So, at least your putting will be alright.

  6. You'll be fine on the course range.  After I stretch I swing my driver a few times, then go to the range hit the same pattern Tiger does:  PW, 8i, 6i, 4i, 3w, Driver, other wood or hybrid, 5i, 7i, 9i, then the club you'll hit off the tee on the first hole.   Sometimes that list is shortend for time.  then go the practice grreen for a few putts to get the green speed down.  You should have lost that much speed during the winter break.

  7. Go Slow, Don't try to kill the ball and don't worry about distance.Play smooth and you'll be fine but you still need to a least practice putting to get the feel for the greens..

  8. STRETCH AND THEN STRETCH SOME MORE AND JUST HIT YOUR WEDGES AS THESE ARE MORE TO DO WITH SCORING THAN THE WOODS AND LONG IRONS

  9. a good cup of coffe should get you started, and stretch out @5mins
