  1. I would suggest...

Stretching: Then you'll be able to get to the balls better (sounds crazy, but it works)

Jogging/Walking: You'll be in better shape and you'll look better on the court. (20-30 minute sessions)

Practice Diving: It sounds like a stupid idea, but, if you're the only one that can get the ball, but it's kinda far away from you, you'll have to dive.

Workout: If you do push-ups, weightlifting, etc. you'll gain arm strength, to help you master your serve (even though you probably already do, but, it'll help)

Jump-Serve: If you don't already know how to do it, practice jump-serve! Coaches aren't very impressed if you don't know how to jump-serve (and if you already know how to do it, but miss it every now & then, then practice it so you'll make it every time)

Get together some of your volleyball friends and practice in your backyard or something!

I would also suggest you make up a routine/schedule, that says when you'll jog/walk, practice, stretch, etc. so then you can decide how much you practice, and stick to that schedule!

    Well, I hope I helped!

Good luck, hope you make it!!!

  2. Go as hard as you can

  3. yea im in the same situatron, first time player but I guess just be competitive and go hard for it.,

  4. Serving is a really crucial part of each individual's game. Build up your arm strength by pushups and weightlifting. Just work your way up!

Also try wall sits for quad strenght. Begin at 1min sits and work up to as high as you want.

If you're by yourself, just volley it up above your head and try and control it for as long as possible. I'm a setter and this helped me immensely.

Work with the ball outside on your house wall, bumping and volleying to the wall. Try and aim for a specific brick each time you hit it.

Running/walking will help your endurance as well.

Get some friends together and go to a local beach volleyball court. Even just casual playing is good practice.

    Hope you make it!!
