  1. It is hard to answer your question without knowing how old your daughter is, what her learning style is, and whether or not you prefer secular or Christian publications.

Here are some books to check out at your local library:

    Cathy Duffy's Top 100 Picks

The Way They Learn, by Cynthia Ulrich Tobias

The Big Books of Learning (particularly volumes 1 &2) by Mary Pride

And also check out this website:

    www.homeschoolreviews.com

I discovered what I wanted to use by first learning what my childrens' learning styles were.  (In my case, their styles were so varied that I decided to opt for a multi-sensory program to teach to each one of them while strengthening their learning weaknesses.)  I then looked at the Mary Pride book of elementary programs.  It is something like a combination of an SAT test and an Ebert film review so only take little nibbles at a time.  ;)

Lastly, I made lots of home schooling friends!  Go join a home school support group in your area.  See if they have a mentoring group and get connected with people who can give you some good advice plus real life understanding of where you are at.  They can make the best suggestions because they can see you and your daughter together.  They can observe how she acts and maybe even how she best learns.  Some of them may even have experience in taking a child out of that particular school district.

    Best to you!

  2. If she likes to read and history: Sonlight, Tapestry of Grace, Beautiful Feet

If she likes workbooks: School of Tomorrow (Paces), Alpha Omega, Christian Light Education

    Unit Studies: KONOS is great

Needs a challenge: Abeka (advanced program)

Oh and Easy Grammar is a great grammar program!

    Check out www.homeschoolreviews.com

  3. astronomy, biology, physics, chemistry, and algebra math

  4. I my self have been home schooled. I learned best while having a little bit of fun. Like every time you finish a subject give a little reward like a snack or some t.v. time. It worked for me maybe it will work for your daughter

  5. You don't have to pick the same publishers for all of the subjects.  ABeka is good for history.  I liked the School of Tommorrow videos for Science and Spanish.  Student Writing Intensive was great for writing.  Easy Grammar for grammar.  Saxon for Math.  I went back and forth with different literature and reading books.  I home-schooled 2 sons and used some of the same curriculum for both, but since my second son learned differently than the first, I found that different curriculum worked for him.

  6. you should put your daughter through an online program....Keystone High School and Morningstar Academy are both great programs that offer TONS of courses.

  7. How old is your dd?

We love Math U See, Five in a Row, the Teaching Tank

However, it depends on the age

  8. I wasn't aware you could pick from curriculum's. I would see if you can get a list of parents who use the programs and see what they think

  9. Well how do you want to teach her? Do you want to a Christian or secular program? Does she learn better by reading writing or hands on? All of these are questions you need an answer to before you chose a curriculum! We tried sonlight and I loved it my daughter was bored! My sister has used it for years and all 5 of hers love it! This year we are using ACE and my daughter is basically teaching herself with it. She is enjoying it and I'm finding that I have a lot more time because I don't have to be right there all day to read to her. The sites for those are www.sonlight.com and www.schooloftomorrow.com. God bless and Good Luck!!

  10. I'm homeschooled and for all of my "Homeschool career"(7 years)  I have been taught with ABeka for everything.  I like it!  It is Christian based, so I dont want that to suprise you.

If your child is old enough to do a second language try Alpha Omega's Switched On Schoolhouse

  11. The best home school program is the one that you put together for your child, since she/he is the one that the curriculum should be fitted too.

We have used several companies, and books, but we always adjusted them to fit the children, and we do not follow a prescriptive schedule, nor do we use a complete out of the box curriculum.

Our children work at multiple levels according to their own interests, and strengths.

What I am trying to say is follow her/his lead, start with the basics, and take it from there.

Get a basic Math, Language Arts, and Writing program, and use the library as well as other media for all the other subjects.

There are many sites on the net for you to supplement the library books.

We use Saxon for math, Christian Liberty Press for spelling, and grammar, and Write Shop for writing.

All other subjects we use a relaxed, or unschooling approach.

Christian Liberty Press is our basic foundation, but we use anything that works well for them, and is affordable.

We use the Internet, movies, computer soft ware, and games extensively.
