Im really worried about my fish?

my two goldfish are taking 5 hours to poo. Their poo is about 10cm long and it has red bits in it. Is this normal?

What are you feeding your goldfish? Sometimes different foods will cause different kinds of p**p in a fish. Their p**p can change colors as well depending on what you feed them. Are you feeding them a varied diet? It is never good to feed your fish the exact same food at every feeding. They too need a varied diet like you and I. If you are worried about them, take some frozen peas, defrost them in tank water, then take the skins off, throw the peas in the tank. They love peas, and it will help clean out their digestive tracts. Hope this was of any help to you!!

Your fish are constipated - defrost some peas, pop them out of the shells and then squish them before adding to your tank. Only feed peas for the next 3 days, and then give them 1 day of fasting and this should help.

It sounds to me like they are constipated.

How often are you feeding them? You should only feed them a maximum of a small pinch of food once a day but, it is better to feed them a small pinch once every other day as it prevents them over eating.

Fish are greedy creatures and always look hungry but, eating all the time will do them no good.

I would advise you to provide an alternative food into their diet. This could take the form of some frozen food, a live plant or even a frozen pea, defrosted, popped out of the shell and broken into small bits. Providing an alternative to the usual diet usually combats the problem of constipation.

sounds ok to me but i will recommend feeding a variety of different things.....for example i feed frozen cubes of worms or shrimps one day, flakes another, algae pellets sometimes and colour enhancing pellets too. the mixture helps the fishes digestion and the lengths of poo will reduce too :-)
