Question:

Im running for student council secretary/treasurer. I have NO idea how to write out my platform! Any help?

We must turn in a platform, and I have no idea where to start or what to say. Im only the secretary and will only be taking notes.

  1. If you are only taking notes of what others are saying, there would not be any point to having a "platform" in the sense of student issues. Maybe they just want a resume....an outline of your skills in note-taking and math......your honesty in handling funds, etc.


  2. Frankly most student goverments have no real influence on matters. Many times it is a popularity contest or who makes the most fun speech. People usually don't care about who has the best ideas only those who have the fun/funny ones. If you care about so much about getting in then make it funny/fun. If you care more about the school make a list of improvements and new ideas for say fundraising that are would be helpful and fun for everybody. Listing your qualifications are important but most people don't really care if you are good at math for treasury(it is just acounting it's not like your doing calculus). It is important to sound confident and upbeat and always talk loud enough to hear.

  3. Your platform consists of WHY you want to hold the position, and WHAT you intend to do with the position, especially anything positive.
