  1. Planes these days know are safe and don't likely crash.

It is safe in the air than ground. Example:

Earth quackcan hurt you badly but in the air is safe and fly to another airport.

  2. it is highly unlikely that that would happen as the floors and the outside of the plane are some of the strongest parts of the plane. As far as i know there aren't any similar incidents to this. You would most likely be ok! And I am a pilot for british airways so i know a bit about planes!

  3. Anything can happen but a floor to collapse is highly unlikely.

  4. That happens quite a lot. Keep your feet off the floor, and hold on the the ceiling with one hand, or both if you can.

  5. Ignore the first 2 comments they are making fun of you.

Planes are built to be strong and the floor never collapses. the nearest incident to this was when a (747 cargo & passenger) planes cargo door ripped off in flight (many years ago and that been fixed) and the air pressure sucked out the cargo and broke a small section of the floor and 2 people died the remainder were shocked but had a safe landing.

this is so rare its going to be a once only event - you can relax safely! for domestic planes this is not even possible!

relax enjoy your holiday and any strange noises you hear underneth the plane are the landing gear moving and thats normal!

  6. Never happened and never will.  A wheel can fall off but the floor is stable.

  7. Floor collapse a no no, just sit back and grit your teeth till after take off, then you can relax until landing, do the same for landing. Do not get drunk, do not drink alcohol while on the plane. Enjoy your holiday, you will be OK on the return flight.

  8. The floor of the aeroplane is usually pretty solid so it's not a major problem.

You are more likely to suffer from engine failure or the wings disintegrating than the floor collapsing.

Hope this puts your mind at rest.

  9. Don't worry yourself too much the aircraft floor is strong so i won't be collapsing anytime. And the closest incident for it happening it 1 in a million.

  10. No it has never happened , the floor will hold thousands of pounds , and to help you , the floor is not the bottom of the plane , their is a fuel tank under , so don't worry and have fun.

  11. Take some Kalms before you fly or have a couple of bevvies. I hate flying and am no paranoid until we land. I have flown back from Menorca this week. Dont worry everything will be fine. x

  12. No nothing like that has ever happened.

Your more likely to burst into flames on the runway.

  13. I love the cheap airline $5 dollar spicey bloody marys, did I say, "bloody?"

  14. well..........we had this one ATR-72 (64-seat turboprop), during it's 20,000 cycle check discovered that the lav had been slowly leaking blue water, for who knows how long.  That chemical toilet water is very corrosive......much longer, the floor under the toilet would have given way.

That plane has since been retired.

  15. I watched the whole series of "air crash investigation" on national geographic and never saw one where the floor fell off. Part of the roof came off in one episode but only one person fell out  :->

For amusement purposes, in the event of an emergency, put on your lifejacket. That way, when the plane goes 50 feet into the ground like a spear, it will really confuse the archaeologists who dig you up years later, they'll think it used be a river or something there.

  16. Don't worry yourself, can't remember how many times i have flown. it is perfectly safe. Sit back and enjoy your flight, and have a great Holiday!!!

  17. i get the jitters about flying too love, but i just think rationally at the end of the day you can die wherever and whenever, but its highly unlikely gunna happen when you on the plane!! have a nice time away, you will be fine

  18. On a modern aircraft from a major carrier... statistically speaking you are more likely to die in your own home by an unexplained house collapse than on that airplane.

The floor won't fall out, the plane won't crash, you'll be fine!

  19. Sure. after the plane augers into the earth at 500 miles an hour. It's not going to crash. Relax. As long as you're not flying on a Soviet airliner, you'll be fine.

  20. No the floor cant just collapse. The worst that can happen is you crash. But that is very very very rare. So dont worry just enjoy the experience.

  21. Ignore the previous ignorant answer from Simon Hite.

I'm a pilot.  You have no danger of falling through the floor of an airplane.  Air travel is safer than walking across the street in your neighborhood.  The standards to which aircraft and pilots are put is really tough.  Pilots are very well trained, and the airplanes are well maintained.

Have a great holiday.  Look forward to an experience that you will remember for a long time.  Flying is great fun.

  22. Your flight will be fine. You'll be perfectly safe. Afterall you are not starring in a hollywood B movie.

  23. To prevent this feeling, ask to fly in the baggage hold. There's plenty of room to stretch out, you don't have to eat the nasty food, and no one will see you using your portable electronic devices.

    Oh, and take a flashlight.

  24. No. You'll be fine. Far more people die in car accidents than plane crashes. You'll be fine, have a nice holiday!

Have to say - AJ's answer made me chuckle!

  25. Dont worry! flying is extremely safe! millions of people fly everday day all year long. That could pretty much never happpen!! I fly an average of 12 flights every year! nothing ever happens! Relax, enjoy your vacation and dont worry about flying, it is extremely safe!!!

  26. No it's not possible and even if it did you would fall till you hit the luggage containers. Fear of flying is caused by lack of knowledge of aviation when you look into airplanes you realize that this can go wrong and that can go wrong but if they do this will go right. Besides I am sure the last time you've watched the news you've heard of a car crash when was the last time you heard of a plane crash small or big in the entire world?

  27. No the floor won't collapse. Rest assured the flying is the safest form of transport. I used to be scared of flying until I had a go on a concorde, that just blew my fear away. Just relax and enjoy the experience, you will just love it. Remember, it is the safest form of transport. Safer even than walking. Enjoy your hols

  28. It's only happened twice that I'm aware of, and it was on McDonnell Douglas DC10's-which were taken out of service by major carriers years ago. Even in one of those incidences the plane was able to land, but it related to a badly designed lock on a cargo door, which could blow out under pressure. They were all recalled, and the lesson learned-so all modern aircraft designs incorporate the safety features developed as a result of those incidents.

I skydive frequently, and half the time I'm more keyed up with adrenalin on the drive to the airfield because I know that up in the sky I'm in the hands of professionals-down here the roads are just not safe! Relax, enjoy your flight, and the safest mode of transport ever devised.

  29. You won't fall through the floor- the cargo bay is underneath you.

There was an incident 20 years or so ago on a DC-10 of a cargo door (improperly closed) opening in flight; the decompression collapsed part of the floor.  All airplanes are now designed so that the floor can withstand the differential pressure while the air equalizes pressure in case of decompression.  So, you have nothing to worry about.  Enjoy the flight!

  30. I've never heard of this happening.  I hate flying too...I take benedryl before because it helps to calm me down.  Ask your dr first, but maybe this will help you be at ease.  You will be fine...enjoy your vacation! :)

  31. no. its more likely to die in a car crash than in a plane. its safe...and planes must pass inspection before takeoff.
