It could be a mental illness such as bipolar, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, sleeping disorders, anxiety disorders(as you are suspecting)  or drug use, or biological problems such as epilepsy or even head injury.

sorry i cant help u coz im going through the same thing myself. its been 4 months now and it has taken over my life. i so desperatly want to get back to my old self but i dont know how. its the worst feeling ever.
