Im scared of my diabetes?

Question

I have type 1 diabetes and am on an insulin pump. Ive yet to actually CHANGE iit as in put the unfusion set inside me. My dad usually does it. But im really scared because im scared i wont do it right and i have to do it by august 17th please help me not be scared!?

sweetie you are supposed to change your infusion sets every 2-3 days. there are insertion devices available, they are like little plungers that insert it for you. all you have to do it push a button

Hun, I would suggest you get your doctor, a nurse, or even your dad walk you through the steps to change it yourself and have them there with you when you do. The more you do it, the more comfortable you will become. Before you know it, you'll be a pro! :)

just relax. it will be okay. can u watch your dad do it once. or have him explain everything to you. maybe you could do it while he watches that way if your not positive you can ask him. dont worry so much.

Don't be scared, my friend was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when we were 12 and she was terrified of needles and the like, now she's totally fine.  Diabetes is well known and well researched enough to ensure a perfectly normal life for the sufferer.  Things will get easier, just accept it and be confident.  A condition doesn't put a damper on who you are.

i have diabetes .. and im 13 years old... i have a insulin  pump.. and i change it all by myself... he frist few days aa nurse came to my house and she explained everything to me and my parents.. they had me practice with fake insulin which is water with a speacial salt thing the nurse gave it to me ..a nd she gave me the pump and she told me what to do with it .. they had me change the pump every day .. just to get useto it .. at frist my  sister useto do it for me but then i started to learn and now i do it myslef.. my mom doesnt een have to remind me to change it .. i put my phone to ring when i need to chnage it on the date and time i change it ever 2 days.. =] i like it but when i go to the pool i kinda hate it cause it has a bump on ur but cheek i do it in my belly ... inthe winter and mmy behing in the summer so that i could wear bikiinis lolzz hope i helped and if you ever neeed help with anything dont be aafraid to ask me by e-mail... qbanbarbie007 or aim xosexiibarbieeox =]]

don't know what that means but my sister would she has type 1 diabetes
