  1. Wow, I checked out that site!  That's some scary stuff; it makes me think.

It can be scary to think about all the bad that can happen, but You Can't Let The Fear Conquer The Joy Of Riding!!

    # One, take the MSF class; even before getting your bike.

    # Two, wear the proper gear; don't ever start to think that you're invincible.

    # Three, always ride defensively; be looking all around you, all the time; anticipate what stupid things another vehicle might do & plan to react to it.

    # Four, ride within your skills; don't let rider friends push you to keep up with them & do the things they do if you're not ready.

As long as you use your head & always be aware you will lessen your chances of accident.  Ride safe & have fun.

A little fear makes you cautious & that can be a good thing, but don't let it control you!

  2. If you are that afraid, you really should not be riding a motorcycle.

I ride and I know the risk.  So I don't make dangerous moves.

    Good Luck...

  3. if your afraid dont ride. everyone now days wants 2 be the first one to the stoplight! i've had my fair share of cars pull out in front of me. you have to always be on the edge. always be aware. If you see a car at a stop sign start 2 think about braking because sometimes they jsut pull out in front of you.

  4. He might have just saved your life. Public roadways are not the place for that kind of riding. Ride like a normal person and you will be alright. Let the dumb A$$ do that stuff and stunting.

  5. truefully a scared rider is as dangerous as a reckless rider.dont get on if you are scared

  6. Kevin i'm sorry. It wasn't my intention to scare you from riding. It was to make a guy see the consequences of what can happen.People need to see what can happen when you do things on the street you shouldn't be doing. If you wear the gear and don't get stupid it goes a long ways towards staying alive.Motorcycles are dangerous and if you don't respect them they will bite you on the a**.That guy stated i feel comfortable on my bike now how do i do wheelies. So i took that as meaning he was new to riding. He has no business going out and doing wheelies!I just thought he should be made aware of what can happen.I hate seeing on the news that another one of us was killed.Go take the MSF riders course and pay attention to what they say.It could save your life.

  7. you should also be afraid to walk across the street at a cross walk. a pedestrian has even less protection than someone on a bike.

you should probably buy a 40 ton bright yellow cement truck to drive everywhere & wear a helmet & protective gear when driving it.

dont forget a meteor could come through your roof & kill you even if your home hidding under your bed.

    HAVE A NICE DAY,

  8. I just want to reinforce the advice in the above post. Get some good gear and you'll be set

  9. The answer is gear up!

Buy a DOT or SNELL certified full-faced helmet. Have the dealer help you make sure it fits properly

Wear a good leather jacket, or find a textile one with armor inside (Joe Rocket is a fairly inexpensive, but quality brand).

Then pick up a pair of "Draggin' Jeans" (do an internet search) as they are kevlar lined, and some come with armor. Or, you can buy a pair of armored riding pants from your dealer as well.

Buy a pair of good leather gloves. Some have armored knuckles, and are made to attach to jackets.

Wear a sturdy pair of leather boots that go above the ankle.

Have *ALL* of this on *before* you swing a leg over your new gixxer.

Now, go take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) Beginners motorcycle course. They will teach you just how to avoid ending up like that (and you get a great discount on motorcycle insurance).

Most motorcycle accidents ARE AVOIDABLE! Most of those riders weren't wearing full gear, or were speeding excessively at the time of their incident. If you are in full gear, and accidently hit a little gravel at low speeds, you will end up with a bruise or two, and not much more.

Another main cause of motorcycle accidents are drivers (and many riders) who don't pay attention to roads. If you ride, pretending as if you are invisible and that no cars will see you, the chances of you getting hit are far lower. Never assume that the car at the intersection will see you.

A lot of riding is all about thinking ahead, and not trying pushing your limits. This involves things like scanning ahead, and creating a "plan B" for every curve and car you encounter. If the sign on the curve says 30 mph, don't try it at 45.

I've been through that site quite a few times, and it does a great job of reminding me to never ride without my gear, and to keep things safe (like checking the bike, and staying within the speed limit).

Don't skip the safety course! Gear up! Join the club! And Ride on!

  10. The solution is simple, don't ride. Get over this and try again.

  11. Bud I dont know how much you know about bike but my first was a triumoh tt600, which is a BIG high performance machine.  GET ON IT!!! It is scary but if you drp it oh well that is the only way you r going to get better!!!
