I'm scared and I'm hoping this isn't a big deal but on my rabbits back, there are a couple dry spots that are like really small but if you feel them, then it kind of feels like a persons scab or something..what should i do? should i pick them or something? I don't know and I hope its nothing bad...

also, how often should you wash your rabbit? could that be why? THanks everyone

  1. It could be a minor skin irritation, but it could be mange, which isn't really a big deal- I think you can buy over the counter remedies for mange similar to those products for fleas- something like a spray.

  2. Rabbits really shouldn't be washed.  They groom themselves like cats, so they are nearly always clean.

As to your rabbit's scabs, they could just be healed over bug bites.  It depends on how big, how many, and what they look like.  It could also be fleas, in which case you could find a flea bath which you could give to your rabbit (this is an acceptable bath, as long as fleas really are the cause).  I would wait it out a few days and see how they progress.  Good luck.

  3. give him a bath. Use cat shampoo. Check where that 'scab' is. if it looks like something serious, you might need to take him to the vet.

try to scrath it of a little. if it bleeds, leave it alone.

    good luck

  4. You should never ever wash your rabbit, unless it has completely got itself very dirty - and even then only ever just lightly wipe them with a wet cloth. They will keep themselves mostly clean by l*****g themselves. If you put them into water - they may go into shock and even die from shock.

With the scabs- try wiping it with a clean wet cloth and putting baby oil on it for a little while, it should heal and the fur grow back. Your rabbit may have either scratched itself if it has mites/fleas etc or even if you brushed it, you may have accidently scratched its skin.

I wouldnt worry unless the hair doesnt grow back - then you should take it to the vet.
