My doctor said my biological clock is ticking and if I want to have a child now is the best time. My problem is I am single. Artificial insemination is out of the picture, can't do it. I am stable. Both emotionally & spiritualy ready to have a child. I want to adopt but there is no agency here that caters to it. I also dont want to just get from anywhere.

Any advice? Any suggestion on the legal procedure especially if the child is from another country? Serious answer only please..

  1. It's hard to get a child from another country.  It costs thousands and thousands of dollars to do this, and you may end up losing the money and not getting your baby.  Do you have an excellent job, a home, a future?  All these things matter when you want to get a child through adoption.  I think the very best way to do this is to find a girl that doesn't want to keep her baby and make a contract with her for a direct adoption.

  2. China does a lot of single parent adoption  Contact Gladney adoption, they do international.  Also children's protective services might allow fostering to adopt.  Good luck

  3. you can try contacting adoption agencies linking american adopters to chinese baby girls.

    http://www.gwca.org/

there are a lot more agencies. do some research and comparisons. good luck! i'm thinking of adopting too!

  4. First, better check from where you are... I mean, maybe from your own country there is an agency that caters to it.  It wold be best to adopt from what country you come from because it would be expensive and you need to do paperworks.

  5. Hi,

I am an adoptive mom of 2 children. We adoped through the (State) foster care system. My children were older when my husband and I adoped, but we considered lots of options. I know it is difficult to adopt a baby in the US. (There are often long waiting lists. It is not impossible, but it could take awhile).

I do  not know a lot about international adoption, but I do know that the procedure(s) vary depending on the country.

One agency that is nation wide is Bethany. They do adoptions in the US (I have an aunt and a cousin who both adopted 2 babies through Bethany). Bethany also has an embro adoption program. Where you can adopt extra invitro embros and become pregant that way. You can visit their website at www. Bethany.org

Bethany also does international adoption from 12 different countries including China and Russia.

If you are looking to adopt an older child through the foster care system you can visit www. adoptuskids.com

This site has pictures of children (most with special needs or older that are availble through the state). Keep in mind special needs is very broadly defined. It could include children with physical or mental handicaps or children that are over the age of 8, have multiple siblings, been in several foster homes, etc.

On that webpage there is information about each state and links to that states 'requirements' for adoption. It may even direct you to agentcies that are near to where you live.

I hope that helps. There are many options for adoption.

There are many children who need a loving home. May God bless you as you research adoption and decide to bring a child home.
