  1. Hooy.  Ok well it'll be a bit difficult syncing them both up in post (editing) since you can't really see with certainty the timecode on the mini cam.  If its a short movie then I would just forget about the mini cam and shoot with the pro cam.

If you decide not to you're gonna have to make sure the settings are exactly the same (very difficult with a consumer model cam) and that they're white balanced the same (again very difficult due to different chip sizes and sensitivity in the camera).  Its gonna cause you tons of headaches in post production.  If you can get another pro cam then do it, otherwise just stick with the one and make sure you have a good tripod for a nice even shot.

  2. Use the small camera for Head shots and the bigger camera for distant shots. White balancing is important. For the white balancing do it manually because automatic seems to fail at times. But don't mix digital with regular video shots.. Also keep in mind that when converting use the same method at all times..

  3. Number One Rule- White balance each camera every time you change location/lighting.  That will give you color continuity throughout your shoots.  Repeat- White Balance

Also, always use a tripod or something stable to place the camera on.  You do not have the equipment for handheld shots.
