Im slightly colour blind,from the uk and want to be a pilot.?

hi, I am 15 years old and ive considered being a pilot,but i did some tests on the internet and it turns out im colour blind but only with a few red and green defficiencys.

Would this be a problem? Can i still be a pilot but only fly at day or what ?

  1. Do you want to be a private or commercial pilot?  You can still become a private pilot and be colorblind.

    If you want to get your commercial or ATP, you're going to need a first class medical and you won't get one with a colorblindness.

  2. Try the CAA website and check out the class 1 medical information.  On there is everything you need to know about what you  need to pass.  All I had to do was distinguish between red and green, but also to read different colour numbers surrounded by different colour dots.  Depending on whether or not you would be able to read this, you may be able to pass.

  3. it really depends on your proctor who tests you

    if he deems it unsafe he wont let you

  4. In the USA, you can get a waiver on the color vision test if you can prove that you can see and distinguish between red, green and white lights that are commonly used in aviation. There should be some sort of similar provisions in your medical exam in the UK.
