  1. In a polite, respectful, calm way, ask the teacher why she told your mom you didn't do any work.  Listen to her answer and don't react emotionally to it.  It is possible that the teacher perceives that you didn't do ALL your work, told that to your mother in some garbled way, and mom understood something other than the truth.

If this doesn't work, ask to meet with both of them and show evidence that you did what was assigned.  It is possible that the teacher sees a lot of potential in you and therefore expects a lot.  There is nothing wrong with high expectations.  Before you conclude that the teacher is "mean," see if you can't get some other insight into what might be nothing more than some mis-communication.

One more thing....if you have a history of lying to your mother that may influence her tendency to not believe you here.  Unfortunately, you have to live with some elements of your past.

  2. I think the real problem lies with what you call "work" and what your teacher calls "work".  Start by asking to show her what you did for a week and why, then ask her to say why she thinks it is nothing, surely it's something, if not entirely what she was expecting.  You can come to a compromise with the teacher about what "work" is and then try to accomplish exactly what is asked of you for the next week to satisfy both of them.

IF you cannot complete it all, then perhaps it is actually because you are unable to do it alone, need extra Teaching on the subject, had too much to do in the amount of time you had, or whatever your case is.  Dialogue is what you all need, don't let your emotions run your attitude, because you still have to grow up and act like an adult eventually, practice your patience now if you want to master that part of your life.  You are your best advocate so carefully choose your words and act appropriately to figure it out.

  3. Then prove it to her.  Show her the work you've completed.  Don't expect people to just believe everything you say - it's easy to lie, but difficult to prove something that isn't true.  So offer evidence.

Wait till you're calm, then sit down with your mom and tell her that you're having problems getting along with the new teacher.  Tell her it's nothing personal, just a "personality clash."  Simply whining that the teacher must "hate you" is childish and unreasonable.  It's simply not in the teacher's best interest to hate their student or to tell lies about their student - the teacher gets paid to teach you, and your academic success helps her professional success.

  4. show your mom the work you do before you hand it in to the teacher; that way, if there's a discrepancy in your stories your mother will know you're telling the truth and can take it up with the teacher herself.

  5. Can you *show* your mom the work you did?? Maybe you should start showing it to your mom before you give it to your teacher. If you get it done early, turn it in to your mom so she can see that not only are you getting it done but you're getting it done in record time (just make sure it's accurate!).

Wonder why your home-school teacher "hates" you? That doesn't sound like a very productive or healthy environment for you. Keep your mom informed of all that goes on, maybe she doesn't know this & if not, I'm sure she'd want to!!

Sounds like this might all just be a matter of communication between the 3 of you.

Hope things get better for you!!

  6. Show your mom first, don't let the teacher play her any more. That's not fair to you or your mom. Maybe ask your teacher for more work if your getting through it faster?

    Hope this helps!
