  1. I saw a girl on the plane with a dog, It was her carry on.

  2. Pets can actually travel with you in the cabin on certain airlines depending upon their size. Usually the size is under 20 pounds. The airlines that allow pets ask that you put you dog into an airlines regulated crate that can fit under your seat.

If you do choose to do this you need to make sure that your dog will be calm. Airlines do not want to dogs barking and crying on the plane. Some individuals choose to sedate their pets while traveling if their pet becomes upset while on board the plane. However, you will need to speak to your vet about this situation. Because of the altitude it is very important that you keep your pet hydrated and if it is sedated it will not be able to drink.

finally, if your dog is too large to keep in the cabin choose an airline that has a special cabin for dogs to fly in. Most airlines treat pets like luggage and we would strongly recommend that you not put your pet in cargo.

  3. I know if you're flying Air France, dogs under 10 pounds can ride with you in the cabin, and they usually let dogs under 15 pounds slide if you're flying in L'Espace Affaires (Business) or Première (First).  Other than that, you'll have to contact the individual airline.  However, I can tell you that the other airlines don't treat them in the same way as suitcases.
