  1. My room was like that i have so much c**p and its just everywhere.

In order to get organized take it one step at a time. First pick up trash and thow it away then organize whats left into different piles (you can do one pile at a time - like clothes then electronics, cds, papers, etc.)

Then you find ways to put them out of the way and together like all the papers and books go on this shelf, all the clothing goes in this corner or in the closet, all the electronics go next to the tv or on the desk, etc.

If you take it one step at a time it won't seem as overwhelming as just looking at it all at once.

  2. My life only runs on schedule because I am a serial list writer!

Start by writing out a daily routine for yourself, set yourself realistic time windows in your day to complete/start certain tasks. Spend the alloted time on the chosen task and try and get it done by then, move on to the next task promptly. If you plan your daily activities/tasks and stick to it you will eventuallt get used to and start to value your routine.

Make lists every night if you have to of particular things you have to do the next day and put it up somewhere you can see it, tick them off as you complete them.

Good luck, it's all about learning self dicipline- as you mature this will get easier.

  3. Check your library for books on organization, specifically for students. This one http://www.organizedstudent.com/ is quite good. It's intended for the parent who is trying to help a child get organized, but you could use it yourself.

You could also try http://www.flylady.com 's Student Control Journal http://www.flylady.net/pages/control_jou... available in .pdf format on the first section of the page and editable Microsoft Word .doc in the last section.

  4. Personally I swear by GTD. The link below gives a good intro to the concept but basically it's a way of getting organised and getting your head clear so you can Get Things Done. Or Google GTD and you'll find about 10.5 million hits :-)

  5. Put all the stuff in your room on your bed have a bag for rubbish a pile of school stuff and a pile of other junk

then get a box or something and put all school stuff in,

  6. First....get rid of anything that is really trash.  If you have a hard time parting with things start slow.  Have 3 boxes...things to keep, things to get rid of...things not sure.  It really makes you start thinking about what to keep.  Also, get a homework log and a binder that is divided by subject.  You have to train yourself to keep track.

  7. Don't worry, this happens to lots of people at  times.

    This weekend, just stop.

Start  at the beginning of the day.  With each step you complete, give yourself a little treat.

    1) Make bed

    2) Pick up all major items off the floor, and PUT THEM AWAY!!!

    3) Pick up other items on the floor.

    4) Sort through school books.

    5) Sort through cupboards, drawers etc.

    6) Hoover/dust

This might look like a lot, but when you've done it, trust me, it will pay off.

PS.  Try to do homework the day you get it...it helps you stay organised.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  8. get organized

  9. Flylady.net is a helpful resource.  It is a website that is very helpful to get organized and most importantly how to stay that way. If you do a search for student it will give you a very specific program for you.  Hope this helps.

  10. try making lists.  bring a small booklet with you to school, or wherever you are in the school atmosphere. everytime that an assignment is given, write down the name of the subject and then what you have to do, and the due date.  if you're really forgetful, also use a calendar with space to write in. this way, you can write on each date what is due that day. each night, check the calendar. crossing out completed assignments will be a great feeling!  as for losing your homework, you need to create folders for each subject. then, make a set location in your room for these folders. this space will not have anything else on it (no clutter, nothing unrelated to school.) this way you will know where everything is as well as be able to find your specific folders at a second's glance.

  11. Before you take a stab at getting your room organized, let's think about your homework. What's your current setup? If you use folders for school, then do your homework that involves writing on top of your folder, or keep your folder right on your desk. As soon as you're done, put the homework in the folder. Keep your backpack next to your desk while you work, so that as soon as you're done, you can just shove the folder in your bag and not worry about finding it tomorrow. If you use a binder or binders, work on the looseleaf inside the binder or again, keep the binder right on your desk so when you finish your homework, you can put the homework in the binder and the binder in your bag. At school, get used to taking the extra two seconds to shove papers in to your folder/binder instead of in the bottom of your bag. It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it.

Tackle your room one step at a time. First, clear out the c**p from on top of and under your bed. Get all your stuff in to a pile on the floor. If you need to wash your sheets, do so. Either way, make your bed. It's not hard, and it makes a big difference. Get a big trash bag and keep it nearby. Sort though the pile of stuff by looking at one thing at a time, and don't get distracted. For example, I usually find all my dirty clothes first, and put those in the hamper. Next, get all your books together, and stack them neatly on your bed; you can shelve them later. Next, get all your paper together and look through it. If it's something you need, set it aside. If it's something you don't need, throw it out. If you haven't seen it or thought about it in two months, you probably don't need it, unless it's something sweet from an old boyfriend, or something like that. Don't err on the side of sentimentality, though, or you'll never get anywhere. Stuffed animals would go on your bed or in your closet. Trinkets should go in a pile on your desk until everything else is straightened up. Keep going through the pile like that until you have neat stacks of things with clear destinations. Vacuum or sweep your floor, dust anything that needs dusting, and put things back, one group at a time.

Clearing out your desk and setting it up properly largely depends on your personality, but you should try to have as little on your desk and in your drawers as possible. Put pens and pencils in a cup -worst case scenario, just get a mug from the kitchen- on your desk for easy access. A magazine holder might be good for your folders if you can find one the right size. If you have a computer at your desk, you really should get a tray for your mouse and keyboard, if you don't already have one. Try to avoid having too much extraneous stuff on top of your desk. A picture of you and your friends is okay; a whole photo album isn't. Something little, cool and fuzzy that you made out of pipe cleaners at camp last year is okay; a box of pipe cleaners isn't. Your desk should be inviting and comfortable, but not distracting. Try to avoid eating at your desk, and only drink water at your desk. If anything spills, you don't have to worry about sticky spots or crumbs. Wipe your desk down with 409 or Fantastik or something like that every few days so it doesn't get too grimy. Try to only keep the bare essentials in your drawers, and don't just shove things in. It takes about the same amount of time to open up your drawer and put your graph paper back neatly, as it does to half-open it, shove your paper in, and try to jam it shut again.

All of this advice is useless if you don't stick to it. Don't get too caught up in trying to keep it spotless, though; if you do, you're setting yourself up for failure. For example, right now, I consider my desk a clean, organized one. However, I have a few CDs and a water bottle lying around. It's not perfect, but I can get at everything I need and work easily. You don't have to look like the cover of Good Housekeeping. It just has to be clean, and work for you.

  12. get a binder with tabs and dividers or a binder for everyclassand color code it to amtch the book cover. for your room if you have any shelves seperate the stuff into categoies( music, school electronics etc) put clothes in the right drawer and have a small space for thing by the door or something so when you dont have anytime to put it in the right place you can just put it in that box and put everything where it belongs when you have time

  13. I keep an ongoing, prioritized list of everything that I need to get done. I feel satisfied every time I cross something off the list, complete a task and be done with it. I swear it also helps me sleep because at night I'm not thinking of what I have to do the next day, I know, its on the list. putting the date it needs to be done by helps too. As other say, clean up your room and get rid of anything you don't need. A mess or clutter can be very distracting. good luck.
