  1. My son's favorite seems to be chewing on a cool washcloth.  He also likes chewing on a soft toothbrush. Another time I gave him a partially thawed pop-ice popsicle without opening it. I have heard that rubbing vanilla extract on gums is soothing, but be careful due alcohol content.

  2. Try letting him chew on a cold wash cloth. That always works great for my daughter. Also, if you rub his gums (with a clean finger of-course) that helps.

I would double check with your doctor, but I think Tylenol is OK.

    Good luck, teething is terrible!

  3. when I worked at a bagel shop a lot of people came in to buy day old bagels for the children to knaw on , the day old ones are harder

  4. Counterpressure often feels good on the gums, so offer her something hard to chew on — extra points if it's icy cold, which provides a numbing sensation. Try a frozen washcloth; a nubby teething ring or toy; or a biscuit (always supervise her). Or offer cold drinks or food. You can also try rubbing her gums firmly with your (clean) finger — she might not appreciate this at first, but will after the pressure begins to ease her throbbing, sore gums.

  5. My little one is going through the same thing. I dampen a washcloth and then put it in the freezer. Make sure it's not too wet when you put it in...she seems to love that. Otherwise, Baby Motrin (ibuprofen) is better than tylenol for teething (Evelyn gets 1.25 ml, but she is 6 months & 16 lbs-call your doc for correct dosage). My doc seems to think giving motrin is a better alternative to baby oragel, but when she gets really bad (especially at night...) I will rub a tiny little bit of oragel on her gums. I was told by some other parents to rub her gums with gauze to toughen them, but that sounded a little mean so I haven't tried that, but I will rub her gums with my finger or a wet baby washcloth if she is looking for something to bite on. Also, at shoprite, I bought a teething blanket for her...which is great. She can hold onto it and it has 2 teething corners (some kind of rubber) and another corner you can attach a binky to. It's worth the $6! Hope that helps!
