  1. good to see you're excited! I played in college and looooved every minute of it and I didn't have a clue what a volleyball looked like in 7th grade when I tried out! So don't pressure yourself too much :) I can forward you some pictures of how hands should be held and body position. I used to coach middle school girls volleyball too :) just let me know!

    good luck!

  2. well I'm in elementary (6th) still and we use hard balls really hard and it will hurt!!Just hit it softly, and when u serve u have to have your hand flat and your arm gives all the strength so throw in the air then hit it with your hand it will hurt just u will get use to it!!hope u do good!!!

  3. If your hand hurts, then your hitting the ball the wrong way on your hands. Unless it has to do with the fact that you are using a soccerball. Just go to your local sports store, they cost $10-15.

  4. Well when you are just hitting it you shouldn't use your hands.

You can position your hands however you would like to but you should hit with your forearms.

Hold both your arms out and make sure they are palm up.

and now you put the right hand over the left one, still palm up and you can fold your thumbs in.

Now the place where you would wear a bracelet if where you hit the ball actually.

If you want to set then you hold both arms above your head and make a diamond with your thumb and pointer finger of both hands and you push the ball up with the fingers, excluding the thumb.

Maybe you should look up on youtube how to do it better.

I hope this helped you, sorry if I didn't explain well enough.

I played for varsity high school though, so that is the basics. :]

  5. you should only hit the Vball with your fingers when your setting. And that is only with the finger print part of your hand. When your "bumping" or passing the ball you should have your hands Forearms facing up, take your left hand and wrap your left thumb over top of your right one while your left fingers lay flat in your right hand. This will give you a flat surface. You should not hit the ball any where else except between the wrist (where you would wear a watch) and about 3 inches down (towards your wrist) from your elbow. This is the fatty part of your arm but is flat and will give you more control. You should also have your feet shoulder width apart knees slightly bent standing on your toes. When you actually go to pass the ball

you should step in to the bal and slightly shrug your shoulders, not up to your ears but up and away, toward your mouth. You will still have little round purple bruises, these are broken capillaries, you only get them because that part of your arm is not use to the trauma of hitting the ball. It should and will go away after a few days. The bast thing to do is practice ALOT...

And stop using that stupid flat soccer ball. It is heavier and harder than a volley ball. Volley balls are made to be spiked and bumped, not kicked...just like the soccer ball is made for kicking. Therefore harder.....

  6. join a volleyball club where you live. i did that for 4 years now and im also in junior high and very good

  7. Well first of all you need to get an acual volleyball, soccer balls are totally diffrent.

Also, I would suggest getting into a YMCA group. That's how I got good. In the biggining, I was literally the worst player on my team, but after just 2 short seasons, I'm now one of the best = )

  8. The best way to improve would be to join a club team. When I was in junior high, this is what I did, and it was one of the most beneficial things I've ever done.

If you can't afford this or you don't have the time, look into buying a volleyball. Gather a group of friends (do you know any volleyball players?) and hit the ball around a few times a week.

As far as touching the ball goes, it is very important to use just your fingers when setting. If you use your palm you can get called for a lift and the ball does not get as far.

If you want to practice your set, grab a friend or sibling and do this: throw the ball back and forth. Using only your fingers, catch the ball and bring it down slightly. A few seconds after catching it, push the ball up with your fingers and release. Doing this simulates setting and will help you learn the proper setting technique.

  9. then just go to lessons

    itll help ya

    be better

  11. The best thing would be to get a volleyball, since soccer balls are usually harder than a volleyball it might hurt. Just try getting your arms in a "V" with your arms flexed out so your entire arms make a flat surface for the ball to bounce off of better.

  12. ok first when your hand hurts after hitting a volleyball it means you hit it wrong. when you spike or serve you always have to make a firm hand (really stiff) with your fingers spread apart also

when your passing remember to use your platform and pass the ball softly... keep practicing a lot and good luck

  13. When volleying always keep your fingers strong and stiff. Push the ball back, instead of stabbing at them. Contact the ball with the underside of your fingertips, instead of the tip, otherwise you will hurt or sprain them.

A soccer ball sounds awfully painful to volley, so I dont' know if you should practice with one.

Volleyball is fun :] It's a pity that sometimes what you love to do cannot be pursued simply because you aren't good enough. But I encourage you to try your best, and practice hard!

  14. you hit the ball with your wrist you should try to get a v-ball
