  1. Dont worry, the pain goes after about a week or even less, and it's not that bad. Plus you will have BEAUTIFUL teeth when they come off.

  2. No, braces do not hurt. You mostly feel sore. Even that goes away.

If you've already gotten spacers, then you're over the worst part.

Look on the bright side- you get a lot of ice cream!

  3. at first yes but you get used to them and then they dont

  4. My sister has braces and I had an expander and now I have a retainer. I do need to get braces too. *screams*

She said your mouth is sore right after you get them but it goes away. And when you get it tightened it is sore for a little bit.

But here are the good things: Each time you get them tightened you usually get to change the rubber bands. They have tons of different colors, and even glow in the dark. Plus after you get the braces off, you can get a retainer in a really cool design.

Here is a recipe for a shake to help sore teeth:

Blend together two scoops vanilla ice cream, one half cup milk, two tablespoons honey, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Tip: Warm the honey before blending by running the container under warm water.

If you play an instrument where you blow, you can get plastic lep protectors so your braces don't rub against your lips. (ouch!)

Sure, you may have to give up some sticky candies, but apples dipped in caramel or corn off the cob is just as good as a candied apple or corn on the cob. Check with your orthodontist/dentist if you can chew sugarless gum.

You know that myth, that your braces or headgear will set off metal dectors? Well, that could happen. But it rarely does! Plus if it does set those buzzers off, just grin and bear it.

Guess what? Some celebrities are getting or had braces, such as Bethany Hamilton, Dakota Fanning, Emma Watson.

Also, you can get a special toothbrush to help clean under and in between braces. Ask your orthodontist/dentist where to get one if neccessary. Plus, you can ask for a little container of wax for if your braces are poking your gums. You just tear off a little piece, knead it a bit, and stick it where it's poking you. It really helps.

Just think how great your smile will look after you get the braces off! Good luck!

  5. At first, they will hurt, because your teeth have to get used to them.  You can take aspirin or Tylenol.

Don't worry, it won't hurt really bad.  Nobody who ever got braces has died from the initial pain.  It will be worth it in the end.

  6. Im getting them too. But her is what everyone tells me, at first yes but then they dont. My mom said the day I get them she is going to let me rent 5 movies and she will make me a BIG bowl of mashed potatoes! lol I get mine on, on August 8th.

  7. CONGRATS ON GETTING BRACES!

    im getting mine off, FINALLY.

haha, but yeah, had them for 3 freakin years.

When i got my braces, the put the top ones only..

after like 5 months I got my bottom.

    No needles, dont be scared.

They mightve put putty like stuff to take impression, try not to choke and breathe thru your nose.

They will be banding you which means glueing your square things on with a light.. when they clean it, it will taste a weird sour taste.... not the best..

it will start to hurt after about 5 hours of having braces.

yikes.. haha, it would be sore for about 3 whole days, and then it wouldnt hurt as bad.

just make sure not to eat anything hard.

oh and get wax, because your skin will get irritated.

it will start to change your teeth after about 2 months you can see a difference, if you have a gap or something. longer if its crooked.

you will start to look better when its pretty straight.

good colors, umm blue, purple, silver, pink, DONT GET WHITE, it will stain and look yellowy orange.

ive answered these type of questions, so here is another one of my answers:

Ok when you first go you then get spacers which is very painful (it feels like a big chunk of meat stuck between your teeth) Then you go to your next to pull the it out (WOOHOO) Then they put your brackets on but you don't get your wire on yet. They will give some wax to put on if it irritates your cheeks. After a few days you go to put on the wire. It doesn't hurt yet. When you go to sleep it will start to hurt. About a week it will stopped hurting. Getting it tightening doesn't hurt either. They just switch wires and changes colors. Just remember to brush your teeth and it will not hurt. Oh yeah remember that you got braces for straight teeth! Yeah they do put this silly putty thing to get your teeth impressions yeah it might choke you but it didn't me just remember to breathe thru your nose. The week when you just stat getting braces take a pain-relieving medicine for the pain. Yeah it would hurt when you press on your teeth or you bite your hamburger. I know they warned you not to eat hard sticky chewy food but I tried all and it doesnt do anything Brushing your teeth wont be as bad. Just remember to brush longer to get rid of everything and remember to mouthwash too so it can get rid of places your toothbrush didnt reach.

Food didnt really get stuck as much as I thought, Just stick your toungue and try to get it out, if not use a toothpick or brush your teeth.

    HOPED I HELP!

    anymore question just ask(:

  8. Just do this and you will get a feeling of what it feels like:

"Give yourself a small-mediumish pinch on your arm"..........Not so bad, huh?

  9. they hurt at first but then you get used to them. and so they won't pinch your checks as much they have a certain type of wax you can use on the inside of your mouth.

  10. I got braces, sometimes they can irritate the inside of your mouth, but they make wax so you can put it on there and make it more comfy. They only hurt a teeny bit when they get tightened which is only like once a month.Sometimes food gets stuck so you may also want to carry around toothpicks or floss. Other than that its really not so bad.

  11. It hurts when they tighten them, but after a day it feels better.  You can take Advil or something to help.  Having braces is annoying, but your teeth will look awesome when it's all over.  Good luck!

  12. Only for less than a week. For a few days you'll eat applesauce but when they actually put it on you don't feel a thing and you learn to live with them. They have dental wax in case anything start poking you that you just smear on the loose wire or pointy part and you don't feel it. You will have to wear rubber bands during the latter stages, but you get used to those REALLY quickly. They only hurt after you get them tightened and they only hurt for a day or two.

  13. they hurt really bad for the first few days... and then u go back every 6weeks to adjust it and it hurts again. u cant eat hard foods... i had ice cream and yoghurt only for two days. It depends how bad your teeth are tho...n how long u hav them.

  14. Im not going to lie, they dont hurt they kill, but in 3 days you are better and when you get them off you will realize that they were worth it.

    Good luck!!!!

  15. at first then the pain goes down

  16. they hurt for the first 2 or three days.  And each time they get tighten.

  17. i mean im an indirect answer: my sis has braces...

when she got spacers: she said they hurt as c**p

she woke me up in the middle of the night whining about it

&& when she got her full srt of braces, she said it hurt really bad

but she got used to it :]

she's getting it off in a year or so

her bff just got her's off- she has such gorgeous teeth now- so white && strait

it might hurt but in the long run, it helps you a lot :]

    good luck!

  18. they hurt like h@ll!

  19. YOUR TEETH  MIGHT JUST BRECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  20. Yes they do hurt at first, but the pain goes away. and then itll hurt wen u go back and they tighten it but again u get used to it.

  21. No it's not meant to hurt u.. It's meant 2 improve ur aesthetics...

  22. It's ok- Don't be scared.

I had braces and they weren't painful as much as they were annoying.

They can get sore after they tighten the braces up/when you first get them, but as long as you remember to put wax on the brackets when you first get them, you'll have nothing to fear.

Really, don't forget the wax- your mouth can really hurt if you forget to put the wax on. Just remember you'll have great teeth to look forward to!

  23. yes they are going to hurt, but its a temp thing, after about 3-4 days it will go away, there are going to be sharp areas, but if you listen to what your DR says you'll be fine, take some pain reliever before you go..

  24. kinda sorta...

the day you get them, don't eat any hard foods or stuff like that, and take tylenol.

    but it's bearable.

    :]

  25. The process of putting the braces on you teeth don't hurt. Several hours later, such as in the evening, your teeth will feel tender. The best advice is to suck on ice cubes. The coldness will numb your mouth.

  26. they hurt alot. like alot alot. jk. your mouth just gets sore for like three days. then u forget about it.

  27. At first yes, they are quite sore and painful you get use to it, and when they tighten them it hurts for a few hours..

  28. I'm not gonna lie, they do hurt somewhat. But not in the way you're imagining. At first, you'll get spacers. And in my experience, that was the worst. But it's not that bad. And it doesn't hurt to actually putthe braces on. They just glue the brackets to your teeth. But when they put the o-rings on to keep the wire down, you'll just feel a lot of pressure and tension. Your teeth will be sore for a little bit, but you'll get used to it. Tightenings are a little sore, but chains are the worst. But that soreness goes by really quick. Anytime something is changed, it is only sore for a little bit. And just look forward to being done and having a BEAUTIFUL smile =]

  29. it will hurt probably for maybe 5 days after getting them, but its not unbearable or anything! just take tylenols or something if it really hurts or is sore.

    its really not that bad!

youll most likely be stuck on soup and jello for a bit haah

  30. Yes they do hurt. When I got mine on they hurt for about a week, but everyone is different. I would recommend eating soft foods for a while, such as mashed potatos, pudding, yogurt etc. anything that doesnt need to be chewed. The inside of your mouth will also be cut, so go to Wal-Mart and get some rinse that will help the sores heal ( sorry i cant remember the name of it ) but the bottle will have a pic of braces on it. If you have any more questions please feel free to email me at jess_x345@yahoo.com. I hope this helps.

  31. I had braces for like a year. They hurt a little at first but if you don't think about it, you won't feel it.You get used to them pretty fast. It's not even really that the braces hurt, you just get a little sore.
