Im starting boxing this summer, im 18, how long will it take me to be able to compete professionally/amateur?

It really depends on how hard you work, and how well you trainers think you can fight. IF you improve fast and you show that your serious about the sport it should take about 6 months too start sparring and then probably 1 year before a fight. You dont want to rush things boxing is a sport that you should learn slowly but surley.

amateur and professional are a very big jump from one to the next. as for amateur you may be ready after a year of hard training with sparing for amateur. as for professional... unless you have natural talent you won't be ready until after years of training and fighting amateur
