Im starting hip hop dance class soon, how to get ready?

How do i get ready for hip hop dance class,I am going to be a begginer and i need to drop some pounds, also is there any thing i should do to prepare?

  1. Haha. You remind me of myself. Before starting hip hop dance class I tried losing a few pounds and was always going on YouTube to check out dance performances.  Try and do the following :

    - Stretch for a few days before your class.

    - Start building leg strength. A good run is recommended, just as the previous poster mentioned.

    - Do some sit ups before you sleep.

    - Endurance and stamina are important in any form of dance.

    Other notes:

    - Always know that when you follow steps, it doesn't have to be perfect. When I first started, I had to ask the instructor to repeat the steps over and over again. They're always willing to help you, no matter what.

    - When you're dancing, don't try to do everything perfect. Just try and feel the music. I always tried doing everything perfect, and I ended up looking sooo stiff. haah.
