  1. Hi there, I used to work at the Ritz-Carlton and if you are planning to eat in the hotel, bring approximately 100 per day. I may recommend you go to a supermarket, which is maybe 4-5 blocks away and get food to keep in your room. That is if you are under a budget. Since you are with your 10 yr old, he might want snacks and juice every now and then. Have fun!!!

  2. Last time I went to Puerto Rico (This past January) I was surprised that a lot of places were not accepting Credit Cards, because the banks were charging a stupidly high fee to process these transactions.... I'm not sure if this is still going on now....

So, my suggetion is, if you don't already have a Banco Popular account, that you can have access to the ATM whenever you need it, is either to have an account opened for the trip, and you can keep the money in there (safest bet), or just carry about $150-200 dollars around for every day your staying there (if you actually plan on doing activities like parasailing, jetskiing, wind-surfing, renting bikes, etc) I don't think you would spend more than $60 a day on food, unless you are eating at High-End restaurants every day for every meal....

But really, see about getting a BPPR account (Banco Popular), if you can.... that way you can access the money as needed....
