Im stuck on a question for my NVQ in childcare!?

my books arnt helping neither is the internet. the question is why is it important to allow children to assess and manage risk according to their stage of development and how this can be done!

  2. something to do with allowing their brains to realise what their limitations are.  makes them realise they are vunerable at times.

  3. By keeping their surroundings age appropriate.  For example, babies playing with razor blades is strictly frowned upon whereas toddlers are Ok with most anything below a Navy Seal's machine gun or hand grenades.

  4. Easy one!

    They develop confidence by doing this and learn their limits and boundaries. They also get a sense of power and control over their environment when they have accomplished something that they feel is so huge.

    How this can be done- set up "safe risks" in the environment for them... depending on the age. For example, if you have 2-3 year olds, set up a steady riser a foot off the ground and they will experiment with stepping up and down, climbing over it, maybe jumping off. In a safe risk, the benefits outweigh the risk of a skinned knee.
