My son is about to turn 1 on the 21 of july and he does not like to eat table food. He doesnt like anything chunky what so ever. I have tried so many diffrent things and being repedative cause i know it takes 10 - 15b times till they get it. I have tried berries, cheerios, gerber melt away puffs, lil entree's, rice cakes, mashh pot. carrots spagetti everything...he does eat the baby pureed food, no problem. fruits and veggies.. He should be getting off formula here soon and get on milk, but he isnt eating like other 1 year olds. Untill he starts eating table food i feel like i should still give him formula for the vitamins and minerals. I give him his formula in a trainer cup not his bottles so he is off the bottle i just feel he should still get the formula...What do you think???

  1. don't want to scare you, but it may be something that would require help from a pediatric occupational therapist.  sometimes kids that have trouble with "consistencies" of foods have troubles with other things later in life.  it's not uncommon.  look into it.  :)

oh... and i would continue formula for a while since it provides valuable nutrients.

  2. My son is 15 months now and was the EXACT same way...loved the pureed food but hated anything with texture. Just don't push it and give it a few weeks. He will get the same amount of nutrition from the pureed food as he will from chunkier table food. After a couple of weeks, try again.

  3. RELAX!  Soon he will be eating you out of house and home!!!

Let him ALONE!   Sit him on your lap...and eat YOUR meal. Ignore him and prevent him if he goes after your food.   If he fusses...put him on the floor and continue to eat. Ignore him. He may howl and whine...but you eat YOUR meal.  At the next meal...have prepared food for him on your plate;  eat some of it. When he indicates that he would like some.... tell him he's a good boy and offer a tiny amount.   This may take a week or two...but he will soon want HIS own. All of this stuff just takes a little time and patience! You'll be fine!

  4. Try things like scrambled eggs, avocadoes, mangos, bananas and oatmeal.

  5. they make a formula for kids that dont eat well(enfamil 2nd stages) and you can give him pediasure or nutrapals-also a multi vitamin in drops for infants may be good for him. and even though it is pureed it has the same nutrients for him. as long as he grows and eats healthy foods who cares that he does not like the texture of table foods yet. he will soon enough- my youngest is a self proclaimed vegitarian-has been since i can remember and the dr just told us to give him a high in iron multvitamin(he just turned 2)
