  1. i took it too, TODAY. that is. all u need to do is find the diff. in time between the P-wave and the S-wave on the seismograph given, and mark a tick mark of that amount, along a straight edge...when u LINE the piece of straightedge or paper with the P and S-wave chart.  make another tick mark on zero.

THEN...u take the tick mark of zero and the diff. in time that u found, and move the tick marks until it matches PERFECTLY and perpindicular to the space of the two P and S curve. when it fits, u look down..or further down from the page and the "distance to the epi. (in km)" wil be indicated. it needs to be lined up.

& then. u need to take your safety compass and using the scale..in km given, untighten the compass...and tighten the pointer to the distance you found from the epicenter. (in km!)

*remember which "peep hole" you are using to construct your circle.(there are 2)*

afterwards, you put the idk how to say it...but its the lil circular plastic circle..place the "dot" INSIDE directly ONTO the point...A/B/C...or just the city.

then put your pencil through and tighten your compass...& draw the circle..

*make sure the circle's end meets with the start, or else something's off!*

yeah...i really need to go back to doing my OTHER regents HW assigned..so i ant really & dont really have the time to explain ELLIPSES..not "eclipses"

=.= and by the way, it was easy. <3 & BTW...u shouldnt be asking "HELP" the day right before the test.... > . > AND, that shows that you either dont pay attention, or simply is not prepared....which is BAD. i highly doubt that you will get 16/16, because i probably got 14/16, because i identified the wrong MINERAL. & the smartest person i know of, had a few mistakes too, meaning that since u have NO IDEA what you need to do...*sigh* its sad. D:

oh well. best wishes. hopefully, you didnt do THAT BAD. > . >

~~i know i did fairly well, i suggest you to prepare for the next REGENTS exam..(mult choice)

for me, its 6/20. idk about you.  ~~

  2. Locating epicenter:  Trianglulation.  You need at least 3 points that have felt the earthquake.

    Check out this link:  http://www.geo.mtu.edu/UPSeis/locating.h...

They explain it much better than I could.

Eclipse:  Solar eclipse=when the direct rays of the sun are blocked by the moon.  There is a total and a partial solar eclipse.  So basically the Earth-Moon-Sun are inline.

Lunar eclipse: When the shadow of the moon falls on the Earth.  These happen much more frequently than do solar eclipses.

Rocks identification:  Sedimentary: 70% of the Earth's surface is covered with sedimentary rocks.  If it looks like sand cemented together=sedimentary.  Igneous=generally dark colored and seem heavy.  Metamorphic=changed form rock.  Crystals that may have been melted together and look streched out or elongated.

    Good luck!
