I will be taking the ASVAP soon, I have been out of school for so long now. I have done the pre-test, didnt score so well. There is an entire section about auto mechanics and I know nothing about that! How is this test graded? I want to do good because I know that my score depicts upon what jobs I may be able to get into in the Army. What should I do now??? Any advice will be much appreciated! Thank you all!

  1. I took it after being out of high school 6 years and scored a 95.  It basic common sense stuff.

Oh...it's called the ASVAB  Armed Services Vocation Aptitude Battery.

  2. Work on your basic math, english, and science skills.  Its all pretty basic stuff to determine aptitude.  There are study guides and basic skills courses availible.

  3. go to the library and get the asvab book study and take the pretests, also on military.com they have 3 full exams so you can take those. practice practice and more practice

  4. Don't worry about anything but english and math.

Don't worry about anything but english and math.

Don't worry about anything but english and math.

If you wanted to be a mechanic, then the auto mechanics section would matter.  However, if you don't know anything about mechanics, I deduce you aren't interested in it.

Yes, the sections other than English and Math will help you qualify for more jobs, but if you are concerned with passing, only the English and Math sections affect that.

Two things you need to do:

    1.  Read a book.  Any book.  Look up the words you don't know.

    2.  Go to Math.com and study the subject areas you need work on.

And by the way, I would rather work with someone like you, who is struggling to pass the test, but is not afraid to ask for help; than work with someone who got a 95 and is dismissive of the problems of others.

  5. in the test there is no passing or fail its just a placement test to see what job for the army u should do

so just relax and answer the best u can

and u can google ASVAB and there will be hundreds of websites to help
