  1. Corey, let me be straight with you!

For a 15 year old you should be able to handle 1 hour.  You would cover a distance of about 17-20 miles on a road bike!

In five hours you will cover about 75 miles ( I know the maths don't work out - but roads and energy levels aren't consistant either!)

Tour de France type riders will cover 100 miles in 4 hours!!!!

    It's up to you mate!

If you search the net you will find lots of training programs to help you out.

I am in my 40's now but I wish I took up cycling in my teens, - just thinking about the times and mileage I could achieve with those years 'under my belt' well!!!   . . . . .you don't want to know!

So what? 5 hours is a good day out!  or you can sit at home with your Playstation??

  2. I'm 13 and i cycle an average of 4 hours a day on indoor velodrome with a professionaly made carbonfibre track bike (it is a lot more easy with a track bike on a velodrome).  If you are going to be cycling on the road then about 1 to 2 hours a day mixed with other sport and a little time on the playstation is probably a good routine.

  3. Lol man, you dont have to continually increase it ever year until you are 40.

Do you want to race? If so, you probably need to join a club.

Then you will find people that will tell you how to train, and do it with you.

But yeah, id say pick a distance, what ever you want, and try and do it faster every day. Maybe start with 5 or ten kilometres. look for what ever bike track or what ever you can find thats the safest. Your first week or so of riding will be pretty slow, but if you do it alot you will get alot quicker in the first fiew months.

But yeah, if i knew you wanted to race etc, i could tell you more. Im more interested n talking to the person that answered that they want to ride the tour de france. If your reading this you really need to join a club! 15 is a great time to be taking it all up, but you need to train hard, because even the under 15's competition is amazingly hard!

  4. Try Lands End to Greta Green in less that 24 hrs. or to John O Groats in less than  two days.

  5. Very simply bike until you get tired, if you don't get tired your not pushing yourself hard enough.

  6. umm I wouldn't do it based on time, I would do it based on miles.

I'm 15 and I like to cycle too. I don't ride every day, but when I do, it's typically around 6-8 miles just for a little ride.It takes me about a half an hour to 40 minutes to ride this much, depending on the headwind. My neighborhood loop is about 2 miles around, so I just ride around my neighborhood 3 or 4 times. Then sometimes on the weekends, my dad and I will do a long ride, like 15-20 miles. But start small, maybe about 4 miles and see how you feel. If you feel good, keep going or the next day add some more miles on.

What I'm working towards is this thing called the Bike to the Bay. It's about a 70 mile ride one way, and you have all day to do it. Then, you go back the next day. Maybe you could look into organized rides in your area and see what's available and work towards that?

    Hope this helps =]

  7. a hour and a half because im 12 and i train for two hours getting ready for 2012 olympics and later tour de france so maybe an hour 45
