  1. Expect to be asked a TON of questions, including who you are, where your from, what you want to do etc. You will share a lot of personal information.

The jobs available range from computers to supply, Navy Seal to storekeeper, bomb units, pilots, rescue swimmers, radar operators, intel, crypto, electrician, nuclear operators, mechanics...anything you want and MANY will translate into the civilian job market.

You will take a test (the ASVAB) that will measure your strong points and give the recruiter an idea of what jobs for which you will qualify.

Go to about.com and search Navy jobs and it will bring up a listing of Navy jobs (called ratings) available. Also navy.com and  the recruiter will have booklets and manuals that detail the ratings that interest you.

  2. Your Recruiters job is to see if you qualify for enlistment.

He/she cannot guarentee you any job. That guarentee only comes from Meps Classification and is a combination of the jobs the navy needs and your ABAVAB scores, physical and moral qualifications.

That is their job. To offer you a job in the navy and they will counsell you on wether the job is related to a civillian one later on.
