he's about 60 years old, he already knows how to play the guitar and trumpet and he can read trumpet music.. so i dont have to explain rhythms to him and he can recognize pitches already. we just barely started lessons and so far ive just been teaching him the parts of the instrument, how to hold them, plucking, and very basic sheet music reading including just the open stings in 4/4 timing. i also taught him how to hold the bow and how to use the whole bow evenly (i had him play whole notes and put a little pressure in the middle of the bow when it gets to the second beat) anyways, any suggestions for how i should teach?? im just having him read the sheet music from a beginners book and teaching him the basics along the way.

  1. Just show him some scale and follow the strictly strings method books.
