  1. You really can't. It happens to a lot of people.. Sorry!

  2. Talk to your dentist and maybe he or she can figure something out.

  3. Let your dentist know about your gag reflux before they ever begin.  He may be able to spray chloraseptic spray on your mouth to prevent the gagging.  If it does not then you can go to a special dentist that uses sedation dentistry.  They basically give you laughing gas before the procedure so that you really dont know whats going on.  I like this type of dentistry because you feel nothin.

  4. The chloroceptic spray works well...you could also try rinsing with mouthwash right before they take the x-ray. Anything to numb the back of your mouth/throat will help decrease your gag reflex. Remember to breath through your nose and relax your tongue. A panoramic x-ray can't be used to diagnose decay (cavities) so that is not an option. Good luck tomorrow...the more you go to the dental office the more comfortable you feel and the easier the appointments will seem.

  5. Ugh! I know what you mean, part of it is the anxiety and anticipation boiling up. Just try to relax, I hate that gagging thing too but its really mind over matter, you can control it. Its you, just stay calm and focus.
