  1. Good morning and Congratulations on your daughter's wedding and becoming a new mother-in-law.

As the mother of the bride, some of the things you might be asked or expected to do are:

    - Assist the couple in finding a wedding and reception venue

    - You may be expected to organize, keep track of and maybe help decide on a wedding budget

    - Meet with, interview and coordinate with some wedding vendors such as the caterer and florist

    - When asked, help with any planning or design aspects of the ceremony and reception

    - Very important - help the bride choose a dress

    - Help create and maintain the guest list, including keeping track of RSVP's

    - Help plan the bridal shower and rehearsal dinner, as well as the day after brunch if there is to be one

    - Pass on any family heirlooms or traditions for the bride on her big day

    - Walk the bride down the aisle

    - Give advice when asked for and help the bride not to stress, this should be a fun time for you and your daughter

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I would be happy to help.

  2. I agree with the other poster, however you will also be verbally giving away your daughter at the alter.
