  1. In order to get a decent job in psychology, you'll need at least a Masters degree, but preferably a PhD. A bachelor's degree in the field won't really get you anywhere, so I'm positive an associates won't.

  2. Not to get you down, but an associates degree will not get you very far at all in the field of psychology; even the bachelors degree that I hold doesn't get me very far right now.  With an associates or bachelors degree you can be hired in the mental health field as a mental health aid, a youth counselor, or a chemical dependency technician and that's about it!  You cannot do any kind of counseling or psychotherapy yet because you do not have any formal training in that area- that take at least a masters degree and preferably a Ph.D.  Keep going in this field though because once you finish out at least up through the masters degree, the potential to make good money is rather high.  Psychologist will always be in demand.  You're thinking too high if you really believe that 35,000 is what you want.  Even with my bachelors degree and working full time, I only make near 25,000 a year. Do the math and you'll figure out my hourly wage.  This is why when you choose a field like Psychology, you pretty much have to be willing to put the full 6-8 years into it right from the start.
