Im thinking about becoming a model for magazines..?

you see we dont have the type of money for a portfolio so i was wondering if i could take pics with my digital camera and be able to send it to modeling agencies on the web.. PLEASE HELP ME!!! i need to know how to get started.. thank you

That's what fashion model Stacey Mackenzie had to do after a modeling agency in Paris tore up her portfolio and she had to start again from scratch.

But you can't do quick cheesy snaps. Nor would I go crazy with the makeup. I would suggest finding a friend who can take good shots (somebody from school who takes pics for the yearbook will do).  Don't take the pics in your house - do them outside with natural light so the agency has a sense of what you really look like.

I wouldn't send the pics via the web.  I would submit them by hand or mail them in (that's just my opinion but I am old school).  Before having them printed I would photoshop your name on the bottom right hand corner in a plain clean font (Arial etc.). Then I would get 8 by 10s printed.  Then I would put together a cover letter.  

The idea is to start like a professional from the very beginning.
