My laptop card is a wifi 802.11b/g. I heard that if I buy a wireless N router it will only run on G speeds because that is what my card is. Is this true?

The wireless router says its backwards compatiable to b/g. So doesnt that mean it will run on the N speed?

  1. Its compatible to use your laptop and you should buy it. But if you would like to get the speed that N router provides 540Mbps then buy it with  the USB N and hope you the best.

    Good luck

  2. No. If the highest between the router/NIC is G, it will run G. If both are N, it would be N. In your case, it would run G.
