would this be alright? how many fish are good to get are some kois easier to care for then others? are some better? how much room do they need would it be good to have live bamboo growing in the tank which rocks are safe?? i just need info and maybe some links because i really want to get some beautiful koi aside from the typical asian restaraunt orange ones...i know they change colors with what they are fed... thanks for the help.

  1. koi get around 2-3 feet long

a 200 gallon tank isn't going to cut it..

you'd need something about 4-5 feet wide and 10 feet long essentially a pond..

there's a reason they are called pond fish

    try shubunkin goldfish

a 125 could hold 5-6 of them fully grown

  2. i'm sorry to tell you this but your koi fish wont be happy in that tank it would be way to small when it gets old the only way for you to own a koi fish to make a pond out side

i could suggest you get a goldfish because koi fish get extremely big and if they are cramped they will die

  3. Well, you definitely need a BIG tank, 200 gallons per koi. Yes, the bamboo thing would be alright. Keep in mind that these fish get 3 feet long, so starting small is not good! There are lots of variety's of koi, they have koi at pet smart, and my pet smart where i live takes good care of them. If you want as smaller fish that looks like a koi, comet or common goldfish are a good choice. They only get a foot long and need 50 gallons per fish.
