  1. take like a week long camp u will learn alot

  2. All u  really need is a pair of knee pads.....the game of volleyball is pretty straight forward...u get better the more u play. U should practice bummping & serving (underhad or overhand dependig on leauge)

  3. It's ok. U can still play. Volleyball is really fun! WARNING: Depending on your age some girls may be really good by now, but don't get jelous. Take tips from them and the coach.

  4. Well, it honestly depends on what level you are going to play at.  Club?  I would say don't,  because that is where the seasoned players are.  Ymca rec or spirit would be where you'd want to go, becuase that is more for beginners and developmental play.  Hope i helped.

  5. As some have said, it really depends on your age. If you are over 14, I'd say most people would already have a good skill set, which means you'll have to push yourself! I'm not saying you shouldn't play, volleyball is a great sport.

So, as for things you'll need:

    1. Knee pads, for sure. Try a sports store-they should have them!

    2. A good attitude. Be willing to learn and develop the skills.

    3. Experience! The more you play the better you will get, try working on the basics, bumping/setting/hitting/serving with a friend/parent.

  6. There are a lot of unknowns here - What do you mean "in the winter"? Is that club ball?  What made you consider volleyball?  What age are you?  How physical or athletic are you?

Just going on a general notion, I would just say a reasonable understanding of the game would be good.  You don't have to know all the ins and outs (that what coaches are for).  But if you can go to a game (high school, junior college, or university) it would be good for you.  If you know someone who knows volleyball have them go with you to explain what's going on.  If not sit next to an older female since they are probably a die hard fan or former player.  She can always give you pointers.

I am always happy to see newcomers to the sport of volleyball.  I wish all the best.

  7. Go to your local library, and get a book on the basics......
