i currently have home phone service from verizon. i have local and some package where it is unlimited long distance. when i was talking to the sales rep they made it seem like i was saving a lot of money. but when i get the bill i pay way more than what they told me. with all the dam taxes and fees.

ive seen the commercial on tv for vonage. it seems $24.99 for unlimited local and long distance is a good price. i know that this phone service works through the dsl internet service. i also looked on the at&t website and they also have something called callvantage for the same price.

what i wanted to know is which of this is better? according to vonage i still have to have a phone line from my local phone company. how does the at&t service work? they said that i could get high speed dsl service and the callvantage thing from them. i currently have dsl from some local company.

  1. Although I live in the UK, I know of an excellent service provider for the USA. They do land line, cell phone, internet, Voip and satellite TV.

If you care to email me I will give you a web site address where you can find out all the information which you will require, also I can put you in touch with a friend who is using the company's services, and who can give you all the prices etc.

  2. If you already have DSL highspeed Internet service, then you can sign-up with "any" VoIP service provider, including Vonage, or AT&T CallVantage.  AT&T is just giving you a sales pitch to convince you to switch to AT&T DSL and CallVantage.  But, I'm quite sure you do not need to switch your DSL service provider in order to actually use AT&T CallVantage, or any other VoIP service for that matter.... but, that is your choice...

I use InPhonex as my "primary" VoIP home phone service (link through my profile).  InPhonex also offers Unlimited USA/Canada service for $24.95 + all bells&whistles included.

However, I only subscribe to their "LiteLine" VoIP service for $7.95/month.  With LiteLine, all incoming calls are free, but all outgoing calls are 2.5 cent/min to anywhere in USA/Canada/Europe. (all the bells&whistles are included free + E911.)  I am quite satisfied with the InPhonex LiteLine service.  Oh, yes... and, No Contracts, No Hidden Fees, only pay-as-you-go... quit any time... no strings attached...
