  1. the economy is getting so bad there right now, 1000`s of skilled professionals are coming back home to oz, maybe leaving some vacancies behind, a scarey time to be moving

  2. you will get a job and the UK is awesome :)

    good luck!

  3. hey there. When i finish my diploma of childrens services in a couple years, i am planning on going over to the UK to work for a year minimum, and then deciding whether i want to live there or not. I have done a small amount of research on the job prospects over there, and it seems that the UK are always looking for australian employees. You will have no problems getting a job at all, just dont be shy, and smile! =) There are plenty of job orrortunities in the UK, so dont stress, i wouldnt be planning to go over there myself if i wasn't confident about there being available jobs =)

Good luck with it all =)

  4. Before you can work in the UK you need a work permit and I assume you intend to stay beyond 90 days so you will need a visa as well. The UK has introduced a points system similar to the Australian one. If you score enough points you can get a work permit.

I suggest you contact the UK Embassy for current details. Do the test and see if you qualify. If you do the Embassy will tell you how to proceed.

  5. You should be alright... accommodation is the most expensive thing over here, so if you've got that sorted it would help heaps.

You might not be able to go out much to begin with, but if you start looking for work straight away you're bound to find something fairly quickly.

The job market isn't the best, there's talk of a recession but talented temps are always in demand, and I'd probably try and get over here and find a job before the situation gets any worse.

Having said that, the recruitment process over here can be a bit bureaucratic (slow) so it might take two weeks or more to find a job and get paid, so you'll need to budget for that.

I'm an Aussie in London and really enjoy it, hope you do too!
