Our house is electric and I have space heaters for the winter time. THe only thing we even need our gas for is hot baths and showers. Is there an alternative that I can do to have hot baths without the use of gas. I want to turn my gas off the bills are crazy. IF anyone knows where I can buy something or what I can do to have hot water and cut my gas off please let me know. THank You for any help.

  1. you dont need gas. you can get hot water from an electrically operated hot water tank. And better yet you can instead of a tank,,which is constantly heatedall day and night when necessary to maintain temperature and drive up your bills,,you can install On Demand Hot water heaters which are also electrically operated,,but only produce hot water when you turn on the tap. More costly initially but since you are using much less elecrticity,,they pay off themselves in a short time. Truely on  of the better modern ideas.

  2. Before you relpace anything try turning down your water heater to just above the temp you like for your bath It will cut down you gas bill a lot

  3. Agree with the first answer ... a tankless water heater will do the trick and the higher cost is soon offset by lower utility bill.  Also is much, much smaller than a conventional gas or electric water heater and can often be mounted out of the way on the wall, so you'll recover a bit of storage space, too.

  4. Agree with the above answerers... on demand water heaters are the way to go.  They have been the standard in Europe for many years, and they take up a lot less space as well as being more efficient.

If you really wanna go green?  Install some solar hot water collectors!    Free energy from the sun..  but it's a kinda big initial investment.
