  1. Turn the temperature down on the heater to 120 degrees.

  2. Rinnai tankless water heater. Google it.

  3. drill oil. everything might come down or wages might go up

  4. Put in a solar water heater..

  5. There are quite a few things you can do to bring the bill down without going to the expenses of switching out.  You can set the thermostat lower on your water heater, for one thing.  (Water takes a lot of energy to heat up, so it's pointless to heat it way too hot.)  Also, you can wrap the water heater with insulation.  When doing laundry, use cold water.  There are some liquid detergents formulated for cold wash, which I've found to be pretty good.

Water conservation will help, too.  Do you have a dishwasher?  It uses less hot water than washing by hand.  Just make sure you set it to air dry to conserve energy, and only run it on a full load.  Take more showers than baths and install a high-efficiency showerhead, so you can cut down on your hot water usage and therefore your gas bill.

  6. Buy an electric water heater instead???

Also, I am left scratching my head on why your water heater is using so much gas... Maybe you have the temperatures set up too high??  Keep in mind that if you set the thermostat up on a water heater beyond its normal range, it can get very expensive very quickly...

  7. gas is cheaper than electric, so that's not an option.

tankless is good when you use a little at a time, not so much when you're filling the tub.

there are roof systems that provide hot water.

if you get a reasonable amount of sun, this might be a really good option for you.

however, unless you take a bath every day, you might check to see if there's a gas leak.

if that's you only use, then your bill shouldn't be all that high.

it's possible that the utility company will check for you, for free.

i know they do that here.

(and they found several leaks -- when we bought the house.)

  8. I have a family of 4 that shower everyday and the dishes that get washed and my natural gas bill is generally $25-30 per month in the summer time.Remember if you cut off your gas you will have to pay a reconnect fee and a fee to re-light the pilot flame on the water tank  find out these fees first before jumping to conclusions

  9. Hello,,when I was young we used to put the kettle on the fire and heat up some water,,and then add the hot water into the other water until it was good enough to bathe in. You ain't from around here are you. What country did you come from?maybe if you look up stuff from about 60 years ago you'll get the right idea of where we should be still. "Still",that's a different version of bio-fuel!!!!
