i get so mad when people say "you will lose proteins!" (everyone says that) and my response to that is "but i can find it in a HUGE variety of vegetables.. and im losing the hormones and all the c**p they are adding in them too, so its better to stop!" anyways i say other things and show them the video "meet your meat" and another one that talks about our teeth that is not meant to eat meat (herbivorous vs. carnivore pretty much) and they just dont give a d**n! i get so upset!.. its not like i want to convert them (unless is my parents and siblings), i just want them to UNDERSTAND the importance AND feel at least a bit sorry for those animals you know? instead most of them make JOKES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VIDEO! how immature and RUDE is that? when i saw it i even cried! and made me change immediately.

so what im asking here is what can i say back at them?, tell me the advantages we get (healthy wise) when we stop eating meat, and if you got other good videos plz send them.

  1. Ok, first of all, you are wrong.

Humans are supposed to eat meat. Have you ever studied human evolution or anthropology? Primates would not have evolved into intelligent species with larger brains if it was not for the protein in meats. So this idea that our teeth are not meant for meat is just silly, and a lie.

Secondly, why would you ever show someone the Meet Your Meat video? It's a bunch of extremist c**p out together by a quasi-terrorist organization.

Finally, why do you feel the need to defend your position? If people question your lifestyle, IGNORE them. Being a vegetarian is a personal choice and you should never have to justify it.

If you actually  feel bad for the animals, then I sincerely hope you have also cut out fish, eggs, cheese, milk, yogurt, leather and wool.

  2. well at least you know YOU won't be walking around with some 10 or so lbs of undigested, rotting flesh in your guts, waiting to become cancer, or some other  ( mad cow disease ) flesh borne disease.   it is THEIR Karma anyway.  it is nice of you to be so compassionate & want the Masses to understand, truth is some may never "GET IT" - so good for you, and no worries on the protien thing, just go have a burrito ( beans and grain is a complete protien ) and hope for the best!  :)  a veggie Mom

  3. I know where your coming from, the only thing you can do is ignore them, be bigger then them. I'm not a vegetarian but I know soy protein is just as good as any meat protein because of the spectrum of the amino acid profile. To prove most of my friends wrong I decided to quite eating meat and continue to be an athlete (bodybuilding). All I ate for protein was eggs, milk, soy and tofu for my protein intake. Most bodybuilders that I was insane because they all thought that I will not be able to keep my muscle mass, but I prove them wrong. I was at 6% percent body fat with an incredible physique and I place in the 3rd in my next competition. I'm not one of those skiny guys with muscle, I have 16 inch biceps in that competition, all without any meat protien. My friends were in awe and most of my competiters didn't believe that I only consumed soy as my main protien source, it didn't matter because my real freinds now believed me. I only did this to prove a point, I still eat meat but I'll still go without meat for weeks, that's when I up my protein intake with soy, eggs, and all kinds of nuts.

  4. When people tell me that I just say

"Well, in my opinion the protein in meat these days isn't worth all of the rest of the stuff in it like the chemicals, horomones, anibiotics, and preservatives. Besides, I can easily replace the protein in meat with the protein in vegetables"

  5. The truth is that most people don't believe that animals have feelings and awareness like humans do.  You believe differently, and that's okay.  You do have to accept that you can't force people to believe the same way you do, and that showing them a bunch of videos will likely "turn them off" to your lifestyle.

It's fine to want them to accept and understand you, but you can't expect them to react the same way you did to a video because they might feel differently.  Different people have different experiences.

The best way to show people that your lifestyle is a good one (be it your religion or your eating habits) is to do just that: show it to them.  Show your friends that after eating vegetarian (or vegan) for 3 years, you're healthy and strong.  Show them that you're different than a "wacko" by not screaming at them "MEAT IS MURDER!"  You have to show them that your lifestyle is fun!  The tough part is that it *does* take time, so you probably won't see immediate results.

Best of luck with your chosen path in life.

  6. If people repeatedly say things that are stupid or ignorant, ignore them.

If people bring it up and they can't listen to anything that you have to say, stop talking to them.

You should NEVER be talking about your feelings on eating meat unless someone tells you that they are REALLY curious about what lead you to that decision. The more you talk about it, the less people will want to hear or think about it.

Take a look at these links, it will be good for you to know that people are either ignorant or liars when they comment on how unhealthy vegan diets are.

  7. There's nothing you can say to them.

Smokers like to make jokes about cancer, and meat eaters like to make jokes about the death of animals.

  8. I would avoid explaining your reasons to people unless you are interested in intellectual discussion. If they can't offer you this, then just move on, change the subject. People have strong opinons generally about vegetarianism. But, there are lots of ways for you to get protein. You shouldn't feel like you have to explain yourself to anyone except maybe your parents:)
