Im tired of races finishing under caution!?

Question

The last two IRL races (Milwaukee and Texas) have had a wreck in the last couple of laps that seems to set the race up for a perfect shootout, but unfortunately with the small amount of laps left it is almost impossible to get the track cleaned up in time. Who else agrees the IRL should install a green white checkered rule to keep the races from finishing under caution?

I agree.  They have to come up with something.  It's just not exciting when a race finishes under a yellow.

Well if you think about it remember last years indy 500 it was raining and it ended in caution due to the rain and that wasnt exciting enough? Ok, maybe it wasnt because Dario won, but still it should be the excitement that your driver won instead of it mattering if it was under caution, the black and white checkered flag I have watched the races under caution and it didnt mattered to me that they took the win under it. I think indy car is indy car and its awesome.

I like Drive25's idea but only within a certain number of laps from checkers.   I mean think about it.    What's the point of two laps in an INDY car going over 200MPH at the smaller tracks.  I don't see the point in 2 laps unless the track is over 2 miles in length.

green white checker might not be a bad idea, to give it once last shot to finish racing, and not just a give a way they might as well just throw the checkered flag instead of just driving around when you know who has won the race already.. Nascar uses the green white checker?? would this work in IRL, we'll until they do something we'll never know..

Finishing under a caution is boring. It makes for bad TV also. Nascar drivers hated the green white checker finishes when they first started them. No one complains now,though and the fans really like the show. If you don't like yellow flag finishes, it's the only choice.

The green-white-checker is a terrible rule!  It's nothing more than a stupid gimmick.  A race should end at it's advertised distance.  You just watched about 3 hours of great racing.  Why can't you be satisfied with that?

The green white checker is a really bad thing. A race is a set number of laps, and thats it. If they want to finish under a green, then all the yellow flag laps should not be counted. This is the way short tracks do it.

The drivers don't like it, either, because they want to put on a show. It should be an issue the organization takes a look at for 2009.

I disagree.  I hate the gwc in Nascar.  They run hundreds of laps under green.  If the final lap is under caution, so be it.  But a race is from point A to point B.  You shouldnt be changing the point B for entertainments sake.  And gwc are rarely exciting anyway.
