Im traveling from the states to canada by car. im staying for 3 weeks. how much money in gifts can i bring?

Hi.  I'm Canadian and I just checked the Canadian Border Services Agency website for you.

It states Americans coming into Canada can bring gifts (doesn't give a number so I assume unlimited) valued at up to $60.00 each Canadian without payment of duty and/or tax.  Anything in excess of this amount they charge duty and/or tax on.

These gifts cannot include alcohol, tobacco or business-related items.

If you want to confirm this on their website yourself, go to:

On the left hand side, you'll see "Travellers"

click that and then click "Non Canadians"

click "Arriving in Canada" and then "Gifts" and you should see what you're looking for
