  1. Ahhh Firenze is bellissima!

    Definitely go to:

The Duomo... you can climb to the top of the dome as well which is nice

The Uffizi Gallery... great art museum (Birth of Venus is here!)

The Accademia... great museum with Michelangelo's David

    Santa Croce.... beautiful church

Ponte Vecchio... pretty both at night and during the day

GELATO... go to Gelateria de Neri or Vivoli -- great!!

Try to do a wine tasting too since you'll be in Toscana!

You can also do day trips to nearby cities like Siena and Pisa!

    HAVE FUN!!

  2. I love Florence! Have to go to the Uffizi Museum, art works are incredible and when you go the top floor there is a huge terrace overlooking the city, Incredible!

  4. While in Florence, me and my 3 buddies took the train to Cinque Terre (five lands). I spent a total of 8 days in Italy split between Rome and Florence, and the hike through the 5 towns of Cinque Terre was definitely the highlight of my trip. Amazing views, Amazing restaurants, amazing shopping (although it's hard to shop when your hiking) There are trains that run to each town so you don't actually have to do the hike itself, but when we finally got to the last town, the sun was setting and we're swimming in Med after a day long hike. I'm a guy and that was absolutely amazing. Definitely check it out. The views are stunning. You can take the easier routes on the hike or the most difficult. Beware, the difficult one is not for the faint of heart.

  5. Monuments:

PALAZZO VECCHIO (old palace) is the most important civil building in the city of Florence. The construction, to plans by Arnolfo di Cambio, was begun in 1299.

Palazzo Pitti was built in the middle of '400 by Luca Fancelli, on demand of Luca Pitti, who wanted to show his power in front of the Family of Medici, building a magnificent Palace.

The CATHEDRAL ("Duomo") is dedicated to Santa Maria del Fiore and is typical of Italian Gothic architecture. The present building was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio (1245-1302), one of the greatest architect-sculptors of his age.

    THE "CUPOLA"

The SAN MINIATO AL MONTE church is one of the finest examples of Tuscan Romanesque architecture

The MEDICI CHAPELS form part of the monumental complex of San Lorenzo.

    Museums:

The UFFIZI GALLERY is one of the gratiest museums in Italy and the world.

The ACCADEMY GALLERY ("Galleria dell'Accademia") is one of the best known museums in Florence, because it houses famous sculptures by Michelangelo, including the "David", "The four prisoners" and the "Pieta of Palestina".

The NATIONAL MUSEUM "IL BARGELLO" has its setting in one of the oldest buildings in Florence and one of the most beautiful in Italy, which was begun in 1255.

It is worth visiting the setting of the MUSEUM OF SAN MARCO for its architecture alone. This consists of the former Dominican convent restored and enlarged to its present size for Cosimo the Elder de' Medici by his favourite architect Michelozzo (1396-1472).

  6. Florence is amazing-I just studied abroad there for a year and am back in the US.  In Florence I suggest you climb the top of the Duomo, it is absolutely gorgeous and you can see all of Florence from the top.  Climb up to Michelangelo as well, and check out the Ponte Vecchio (huge bridge) it's gorgeous and a real tourist spot.  While you're in Florence eat at the Tratoria 4 Leoni, it's amazing, past the Ponte Vecchio and order the pear raviolis.  You can visit the leaning tower of Pisa, it's about 45 mins away from Florence by 10 euro train, definitely go to Pisa! Also, if you don't want to stay in Florence for the entire 4 days, check out Rome (1.5 hrs by train) or Venice (3 hrs by train)

While in Florence, check out the San Lorenzo Market, a ton of deals on leather but you have to barter! Don't pay more than 80 euro for a leather purse or 150 euro for a leather jacket.  Buy all of your drinks/water etc at the Markets because the street stores will try to make you pay like 4 euro for a water or coke-it's ridiculous. Goodluck and enjoy firenze, it's amazing! :)
