  1. There are an awful lot of beaches in Australia and most of them are deserted. Australia boasts some of the best beaches on the planet and the huge coastline stretches for nearly 37,000 km, which includes 11,011 beaches, more than any other nation.

I strongly recommend that you go to the whitsundays on the Barrier Reef. There are many beatiful islands on the Barrier Reef and the sand is white and the water clear. If you are going to Australia, then you definetely should make a point to visit the beaches on the Great Barrier Reef. Queensland beaches are very beautiful and there are quite a few, i suggest you try:

    1) Whitehaven Beach (whitsunday Islands - Barrier Reef- Qld)

    2) Surfer's Paradise (The Gold Coast - QLD)

    3) Four Mile Beach (Port Douglas - Northern QLD)

4)Main Beach (The Gold Coast - QLD)

    5) Bells Beach (VIC - perfect for surfing)

I might as well mention that if you have time, two beautiful beaches in New South Wales are Boni Beach in Syndey and Byron Bay in northern NSW (Byron Bay also happens to be the most easterly point on the Australian continent!).

    hope i helped!

  2. It's a bit hard to rank beaches when there is a couple of thousand kilometers of them and we don't know whether you are after a surf beach or not.  I recommend you get onto swellnet (daily surf reports etc.) and surf life saving Australia (which lists all the beaches which have life savers on them amongst other things).

Some of the best beaches in Victoria are Lorne, Apollo Bay, Torquay, Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Anglesea, Portsea, Wooloomooloo (Phillip Island), Bell's Beach, Point Impossible (nudist) Mt. Eliza, Mt Martha.  Some of the beaches around Melbourne include St. Kilda, Brighton, Williamstown, Port Melbourne, Frankston, Elwood.

Beautiful beaches in Queensland include 4 mile beach (Port Douglas), Cape Tribulation, anywhere around the Gold Coast, Noosa, anywhere in the Whitsundays.

  3. Bells Beach..

Not sure of any others, NSW I could help you with though. Be advised though that in the North of Queensland there is no surf, if thats what your looking for.
